         <description><![CDATA[<div>For two days in 1966, the black community boycotted their regular classes in their k-12 schools. Approximately 3,000 students attended this boycott. While they weren't at school they were learning about black history . They boycotted for the integration of public schools in Seattle. They were fighting for their community following the black panther principles of education. They weren't armed but had a strong message and influence and got the school board to implement the things they wanted. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Black Panthers were headquartered in the Madrona neighborhood, following it's history of racial tension. Realtors and bankers had redlined the neighborhood and discriminated against nonwhites following Brown v. Board of Education.<br><br>"The Peaceable Kingdom" was commissioned in 1984 at the Madrona Playfield. "The [aluminum] sculpture features a sheep, panther, pig, and wolf all getting along. The pig represents the police, the panther the Black Panthers, the wolf aggressive agitators, and the sheep meek followers.<br>The piece serves as a symbol of Madrona’s diversity and the community’s ability to live together without challenge or tension."<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
