  • Learning goals: 
    • EAL: Listen and arrange pictures/Make up stories and tell them
    UIO:  "Who we are": Understand how family traditions on certain holidays connect or differ

    • Assessment (how will I know my students got it): 
    SS can organize pictures to show how two different cultures (Vietnamese and Ecuadorian)celebrate the new year.
    SS can compare and compare both traditions and determine their similarities and differences.

    • Engagement activity: 
    Watch a clip about Ecuadorian New Year Eve's traditions and ask: What does this make you think of?

    • Teach:
    Model comparing two counties' NYE traditions using pictures of both.

    • Guided practice:
    Provide SS sentence stems and pictures so they can practice doing the same. Clarify they can either compare Ecuadorian, Vietnamese, American and any other country's NYE traditions they are familiar with.

    • Independent practice: 

    Ask all students to record themselves in Seesaw organizing and talking about pictures describing NYE's traditions between any two countries.
