I am a student at Two Oceans Graduate Institute (TOGI). TOGI is a quality tertiary education facility that specializes in the training of educators. TOGI has lecturers that are committed to producing quality learning content and intentional support for it's students. This learning environment has helped me to thrive as an educator, upskilling me while challenging me with the administrative task of distance learning.

Experience at Pinelands North Primary School

I have worked for Pinelands North Primary school since August of 2020. In the three years I have worked there as a teaching intern, I have learned so much about the role of a teacher in the education system. My administrative skills, educational philosophies, practical class management abilities and so much more have been shaped by my time at PNPS.

PSW teacher

At PNPS, I have been allowed the opportunity to plan, assess and mark PSW under the supervision of both the grade teacher and the PSW subject head. This has involved many meetings about how to teach a subject and plan all the aspects of a lesson and assessment. This has deepened my understanding of the role a teacher plays in the planning process and how a teacher can use the CAPS documents and ATPs to set their students up for success.

I have been given the task of planning assessments, under the supervision of the grade teacher and subject head. This has helped me to practice the process of setting assessments and helped me to learn the different levels of questioning.

My passion for teaching extends beyond the boundaries of teaching. I have coached many different sporting codes (including hockey, waterpolo, netball, swimming and athletics) that spanned over a number of age categories, ranging from u7 to u19.

Passion for sports

Not only am I passionate about excellent teaching. I am also passionate about excellence on the sports pitch. I have played sport at a high level and believe in pushing children to do the same, as sport is a beautiful vehicle to develop a child's character.

I love science and passing on a passion for science to students. I particularly enjoy the simulations that are available o the website I attached. This doesn't show my content creation skills, but rather the ability to use a brilliant resource. I have personally planned many lessons with this simulator.

Why me?

So why hire me? My biggest goal is to be a teacher that is not afraid to be different. In this picture, I climbed on the shelf to get a point across. One of my teachers did that when I was younger and it never left me. My hope is that every child I teach will be impacted and will be positively influenced for the better
