Prompt Two- Feelings

My reflection is about how I feel about reading the The Forest, the Trees, and the One Thing. It evoked a lot of feelings and strong feelings one thing that stood out to me was the concept of ideas and culture is truly how we make up a lot of what is norm for us in life. It crazy to think that a lot of what I say or hear is just follow the leader ideas it's what I got from one person who got it from another person and just decided to live off it. Like birthdays or holidays. One thing is like Church I am catholic and I believe fully in Jesus Christ but i've never seen him before or seen the actual stories they tell in church. I choose to believe because it's what I think is right and feel is right. It is also about the way it was instructed to me I was brought to church every sunday so of course my mother gave me no choice but to force it on me. I also wanted to talk about when the writer was describing how in reality of our society its sort of a ideal that men are greater than women. Women are valued less than and that goes much more into color as well if you are black women the chances to get treated fairly are way less likely than as a white women. But still not as fair as white man. These ideals set in our culture that not only presidents looked as that way but are enforced which shaped the way our economy I feel like is shaped. It makes me angry and frustrated the way we are treated as a women. It's just so amazing that in some sort of way the things we have ideals or symbols like "America Land Of The Free" that shaped our culture are just so fake. We somehow force it onto each other and call it "structure". Its rubbish and quite frankly irritating. Even now looking at the election is scary to see who were my past presidents and the ideals they had set and what they were putting out. Being a black women and women in general, I'm really grateful about a woman running for president but also very scared there has been assassinations and hate crimes and very very hateful rising lately. Just if the world still sees women as less than how is women ever going to win? I fear as much support and votes I still don't think she is going to win.

Social Structure - 9/22

Prompt Three - Two things i've learned

Social structure something I learned from reading the article and watching the videos is a lot. Knowing that a lot of wealthy and rich people contribute a lot of the mass media we watch obviously putting out what they want us to see is scary to me. I dad is a teacher and he fully understand the labor union for professors and teachers. he works a lot and literally half of what he works goes straight to the government. Two things i've learned is Capitalism and how it really happens to us and just the structure of our lives and how the social structure organizes our lives it's a way of keeping everyone in place. it also keeps the economic aspect in place. something i really learned is that minorities are abousolty at the bottom we are represented as that but truly we are as in the government is supposed to help us and they say they "do" but do not at all the money goes somewhere else yet still look for labor? i'm not quite sure how to say in words all the things I truly understand or see but I try and so those are my two things i've learned from the prompts.

Prompt 3 - Feelings

The feelings ive enoked while reading the looking glass self is self realizations we all been doing it. And what I mean by it is the performance act its not even how we view ourselves but how the world and other people view us and how much we actually care about how we are being proceievd its really creepy. How so much I try to act like myself and maybe I am? but yet I do see there are some things were im looking for vaildation in others or even when im not even looking, I still see it in how I act or talk and I just need to realize maybe thats just how life is? i'm not sure? I feel like even when we are being our true true selfs we still seek some type of vaildation either from other people or maybe just the closest of the closes people that are in our life. its really crazy to think how much you can think you know someone but really don't.

Sociology Research Methods

Some things i've learned about the methods of research were quantitative methods which were computer programs that just analyze and sociologist will be able to analyze the groups. One thing that stood out to me is how some sociologist are just able to trust a computer. A lot of what I didn't know was a bunch of research for sociologist. Its really amazing that half of what they do is research which makes sense giving that they need to study a group of people.
