ISIS Defeat

This recent Saturday, US fighters in Syria has declared victory over ISIS. This marks the end of a global campaign to break the extremist's group hold on religion that has gone on for years. The country has self-proclaimed a territorial defeat on it's caliphate. Trump is trying to ensure that ISIS never returns, though many say they will come back in a new form and name and will be stronger. US fighters are still trying to defeat ISIS members who continue to attempt to carry on the group. This is a huge milestone for not only me, but the rest of the world. ISIS has always been a huge threat to so many and have created fear to people's lives. Now that they have been defeated, many can feel safe and happy again.

In just three years, all EU cars could stop your speeding. The speed limited technology is also known as intelligent speed assistance. It uses video cameras, satellite location data or both to detect when drivers go over the speed limit. It also restricts their power to speed up by restricting the engine power. This could reduce accidents on European roads by 20%. If there were an accident, then the car's technology could also collect data around it. They require confirmation from both the full European Parliament and ministers from all member states, but have already been approved by the committee stage.

Castera Mastropaolo, known as Cas, goes to Edison, in Ohio and is a junior. Before he came to Milan, Ohio he was living in a small village in Haiti. In Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Cas would starve for days, be a child slave, and deal with the harsh conditions of living in the poorest country of the western hemisphere. On Dec. 29, 2005 Cas was adopted by Ken and Laura Mastropaolo and brought to America to start a new, happier life. When he got to Ohio he was struggling with many health issues. He was malnourished with a distended belly and was full of worms which took six months to recover, still suffers from tuberculosis, is hearing impaired and has trouble with his digestive system. In fifth grade he signed up to play football, and after his first game, Cas realized that this was his destiny. This past fall, Mastropaolo started on the defensive line for Edison. He currently is holding a 3.3 grade point average and is known as a huge inspiration to his team. This shows that the love and bond that globalization has done for our world has come to such good use. If Ken and Laura weren't able to adopt Cas, he would've never been given such good opportunities and beautiful story.

Europeans have passed a final vote that include huge copyright changes. The changes are very controversial and critics are opposed to the 11th and 13th Article. It affects the aspects of the digital and requires the likes of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to take more responsibility for copyrighted material being shared illegally on their platforms. In Article 13, critics claim that it will have very big affects on online creators. It requires online platforms to filter or remove copyrighted material from their websites, people are interpreting this to ban memes. Article 11 states that news aggregator sites, such as Google News, are tp pay publishers for using snippets of their articles on their platforms. Article 12 might stop anyone who isn’t the official organiser of a sports match from posting any videos or photos of that match. Now it will only have to be implemented by the individual countries within the Union.

North Korea and US Summit

Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump are planning to hold a summit in Hanoi, Vietnam. They hope to be able on agreeing no more nuclear programs and want to relief in sanctions. They want a formal declaration to end war with North Korea. They are hoping this summit will end up more successful than the previous one, which didn't solve anything. This has a relation to globalization because our two countries are trying to compromise and change the tension and fear between the the countries. This can help us all because I'm sure no one wants to see a nuclear war against North Korea, or any other war or harm.

New Zealand Shooting

An Australian terrorist shot two mosques and killed 50 in New Zealand. If the man wasn't caught he would've continued to shoot and cause harm. There were memorials being put up to recognize to mosques and those who were killed. Their Prime Minister promised reformed gun laws. This has much relation to globalization because the issue of gun violence has been a problem in America and all over the world. It scares me that this issue is spreading, and causing more fear all over the world. I find it interesting that right as this terror attack happened, New Zealand immediately changed their gun laws and restrictions. America has had tons of gun violence and shootings, yet we continue to allow guns and lack gun laws.
