I became a Civil War photographer because of the battle of Antietam. I realized how little people knew about the war going on. I felt it was my duty to share with my fellow Americans the reality of the war we are in. When I photographed the battle of Antietam that's when I decided it was my duty to share it. Most Americans didn't know how horrible war really was. I needed to make as many people as I could know the horrors going on in this country.

I later turned into a Civil War photographer, because I felt that I needed to share images of the war with my fellow Americans. After the war I realized that my duty was to share images of what was going on in the rest of the world with my fellow Americans.

The next day I decided that it was my duty to share images of what is going on in the world with my fellow Americans. And I did just that.

Maybe my biggest impact was the battle of Gettysburg. I got over 30 photographs, and shared them with the white house. This raised a lot of awareness about the war. Most people had no idea what the war was really like. With the pictures they saw mutilated bodies and other gruesome scenes like that. I think that my photos erased the idea of romanticism in war and gave people real perspective on it.

I always wanted to be a photographer, so when I finally got a camera, that's what I became. I spent all my money to try to get photographing equipment. Nobody realized how profitable photography was. My dad was an artist, and taught me how to make my pictures look nice. I could make 3 to 5 dollars a photo. At the time that was a decent living and I had a good life. It all changed after the battle of Antietam.

The Civil War started because the southern states wanted to keep slavery. They wouldn't listen to the north and just kept having slaves. As this escalated, the Civil War started. Most of these events happened when I was still a kid though, so I don't remember them that well. The Civil war had a lot of gruesome battles such as the battle of Gettysburg and the battle of Antietam.
