The reason I selected the websites above is because the first one is my school website that I teach at and is the launching/starting point for parents and students to gather information. I was curious to know is our school website's usability/readability features up to par. The next website is our School's LMS. I really enjoy working with Blackboard and was curious to know if our LMS has something similar to Ally that converts and provide alternative ways for students to view material. Lastly, the LA times because I am a frequent reader of the news and I know plenty of people who stopped receiving hard copies of the newspaper and now look online. When reviewing the report I had difficulties understanding what each explanation meant. What I did get from the report is that the website had 50 issues. Majority of the issues came from titling and heading which has to do with the readability of the website. As far as usability the website is not the most user friendly website. It is impossible to use with only arrows and the tab key. The website presents itself as very interactive with forward moving technology but it lacks the simplicity of a user friendly website. Someone who may be accessing this website without a mouse, or the capability to use a mouse would not be able to do so. In regard to short-term memory load website has tabs that are straight forward and take you to where you need to go. The content that is displayed is a short read and easy to understand. The website analysis tools could not gather the data due to needing a log in to access the website. From my personal experience using the website, I was able to navigate using only the keyboard arrows, tab, and enter keys. The information being provided is based on the instructor who is designing that specific page. When developing my course I keep in mind students with learning disabilities, anxiety from processing a ton of information, as well as layout and steps that students need to take to access materials. I simplified by School page design by using clearly labeled folders which are titled by the week. Also every assignment has a date so students can easily refer back to that specific assignment by just going to the date. I also provide video explanation of how to navigate the course incase students need step by step guidance that they can access whenever they need. Surprisingly this website scored high. The website is accessible using only arrows, tab key and enter. The presentation of the website provides information in the "chunk" format. The eye tracking and scrolling is also accessible when using this website. The LA times error has 7 errors, and then the Schoology website did not produce a result. I am assuming this is because a log in is required to view the page. When reviewing all three websites and comparing them I noticed that the website that had the most usability and readability was the LA Times.  The organization that I work for website is high tech, with flash and different tools used but it is extremely hard to navigate if you don't have the ability to fully access all components. LA times made proper use of space, information being provided, simplicity and font size. I think this website is the most accessible out of all 3 in terms of the testing results.
