Sentence Anagrams is a form of wordplay in which letters of a word or phrase are rearranged to create a new word or phrase. A sentence word scramble is a great example of a useful tool to strengthen a learner's understanding of syntax. Example: Primarily in fought WWI Europe was... WWI was primarily fought in Europe.

When using sentence scrambles it is a good idea to use text from relevant and current reading. You would also want to use new vocabulary and recently encountered words in phonics and spelling lessons.

Sedita, J. (2019).

Text Analysis Activity:

The first activity is to help students distinguish between literary text and expository text is the text analysis activity.

Students will be given 2 different texts to read and distinguish or identify the author's purpose of writing.

-One text will be entertaining and the other will be factual and informative.

When doing their analysis they will side-note the readings to help produce evidence before they draw their conclusions.

-This will be done by annotating the text.

-This activity will be done individually, and then as a class, we will debate their findings.

When all students are done reading and picking which reading is which we will openly discuss/debate the style or type of each reading.

Scaffolding and Graphic Organizers:

The next major strategy to be used would be producing graphic organizers that yield giveaway identifiers to the type of text they are addressing.

-We would create organizers that identify words and phrases that can be sufficient for understanding the style of writing that we are reading.

Example: Expository Text would use language that identify cause and effect, comparison and contrasts, and definitions.

Sejnost, R.
