Employment equality relates to equality between women and men with respect to their treatment, opportunities, and economic achievements in the workplace. The concept is often viewed in relation to the workplace and labour organisations. 

The inequality of gender gaps is the first key objective of fulfilling EU goals in employment and social cohesion. The demand for increased participation of women in the labour market provides a marked contribution to economic development and in turn 'economic independence for women‘ 

Indirect discrimination could be not giving someone a promotion because they are not heterosexual, however not making this obvious.

The disadvantages of these inequalities in society because of sexuality is that it could cause low self confidence and may negatively impact the individuals self image if they are discriminated against. They may also lie when applying to jobs and hide their true sexuality out of fear of not being employed or not being promoted because of it.

Advantages of these inequalities in society is that it may encourage people to speak up about discrimination and whistle blow to prevent it happening again to someone else, aswell as highlighting institutional discrimination. 

Although the reproductive health of women and girls has improved, some 214 million women worldwide would like to avoid pregnancy but are not using a modern method of contraception. Enabling young women to avoid early pregnancy allows many to attend school longer, and as fertility falls, more women are able to join the labor force. Sick leave in Sweden, as in many other countries, exhibits a considerable bias in its gender distribution. Women are off sick to a far greater extent than men; two out of three people on sick leave are women. This is a historic pattern that has persisted over time.

In Lithuania, men dominate study fields such as computing (87.5%) and engineering (83.1%), while women hold the majority of degrees in social services (81.6%) and health care (74.7%). The trend is similar in other EU countries.The situation will not change unless teachers and parents encourage girls and boys to choose more atypical fields, like STEM for girls, and education and welfare for boys. The classroom should be an environment that challenges gender stereotypes and breaks them down. Unfortunately, it often works in the opposite direction by reinforcing traditional ideas about what girls and boys can or should do and thus limiting their potential”, said Virginija Langbakk, EIGE’s director.The gender gaps in higher education carry on to the job market.
