         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The photoelectric effect refers to when light interacts with electrons. When a light is shined onto a metal surface, if the energy is high enough, the light knocks the electrons loose and free them from the surface. Each particle of light (photon) collides with an electron and uses its energy to free the electron, which are called photo electrons.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>aMake Electroscope with soda can, foil, and tinsel <ol><li>Attach foil to the tab on the soda can (sticking out a few inches) </li><li>Attach the tinsel to the end of the foil </li></ol></li><li>Charge the Tinsel <ol><li>Blow up balloon </li><li>Rub balloon on hair</li><li>Charge the pieces of tinsel (should stand up from the negative charge and want to repel from each other) </li></ol></li><li>Turn on/go to UV source <ol><li>In this lab we are using the Sun (Sun has a high energy/frequency of UV light)</li></ol></li><li>Watch the tinsel <ol><li>The pieces will fall back to still (the tinsel should discharge as the electrons are knocked from the metal surface of the tinsel, showing the photoelectric effect)</li></ol></li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>
