My School-From-Home Workbook! (Day 53 - Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020) by Mark Giraldi

I will be sending a new one of these each school morning to your parent's e-mail! It'll contain all of our schoolwork for the day. Any assignment submissions can be turned in through our class site (Edmodo). You should aim for one hour of schoolwork each school day! Don't forget about Ms. Garbett's weekly French work (posted on her Brightspace site), which you can access through your BYOD page (https://byod.peelschools.org/), and Mr. Bieman's Music page, which you can access through Google Classrooms (https://classroom.google.com/).

This is a Math-based introduction to coding, teaching students the basics of writing up coding procedures! It will teach you how to tell a computer to execute certain commands, including (very important) sequences and loops!

Play through each of the three levels, learning about...

Level 1 - How to input commands to a computer

Level 2 - How to create a 'pattern' or 'procedure' in order to better solve a problem (using less commands for the computer to read, which makes programs load faster and be more efficient)

Level 3 - How to 'loop' patterns, making a 'repeating procedure' line that never, ever ends! This is useful for solving very complex problems (or making your character make a lot of moves over and over)

Go to the following website on your Chromebooks. You will need to 'enable' or 'allow' flash to run after you click on the website link!

Lightbot Hour http://lightbot.com/flash.html

Remember that there are multiple ways to solve these problems, although the shorter way in code-making is usually the best of whatever options are available.
