I picked this lesson because it is such a necessary skill for students to learn. This is the basis for any essay students will be required to write as they advance in school. The students will use defined role-play as either the news anchor, the roving, reporter, or the eyewitnesses. I as the teacher would help the students with writing the basic idea for their news channel. Each student will have to say a couple of sentences and be a part of the show as one of the characters. We will transform the classroom into a newsroom by projecting a backdrop and arranging the desks.  

The students will begin with the news anchor giving a basic overview of what story we have been reading in class. Then it will go to the roving reporter who will walk around to different students and ask them a question. (I will provide the questions for the reporter) To finish the second news anchor will say the closing thoughts of the story from the script that everyone worked on together.
