Ingredients: 200gr butter, 185 gr sugar, 4 eggs, 250 gr flour, 2 tablespoonfuls  baking powder,  1 apple, 50 gr raisins, 1 tablespoonful  flour

Icing: 300 ml powder sugar. 300 ml water, chocolate flakes for decoration

Making: Mix the butter and sugar. Mix separately the eggs and add them to the first mixture. Sieve the flour, add the baking powder and mix well. Peel and grate the apple. Combine the raisings with 1 ss flour (in order not to go to the bottom while baking). Mix everything.  Put 1 spoonful of the mixture in a paper muffin cup, place the paper cups in a muffin tray and bake for 10-15 min. at 200 C.

Sieve the sugar powder and add the water constantly stirring until it looks like thick honey. Decorate the baked muffins  with this icing and sprinkle with the chocolate flakes.

It is the most important of the three Saviour (Spas) days. The others are: Honey savior, on August 14 (or August 1, Julian Calendar); and Nut savior on August 29 (or August 16, Julian Calendar).

The holiday has a pre-Christian origin and is associated with harvesting of ripe fruits, especially apples. Then it became an Orthodox holiday. There are processions and blessings of harvests. Usually, on that day, Ukrainians eat apples, apple pies, or other dishes containing apples, even if they are not Orthodox Christians.
