Through this trying time, the UVA faculty and staff have stood strong in support of our community. Given how difficult this transition has been for many students, professors have made it a point to expressed their deep care for our well being and it has made a world of difference. Part of what I love about being a UVA student is that we are respected and always held to high standards, but during this time I have greatly appreciated getting to know the more empathetic and personal side to my professors. I now realize that it is their underlying interest in our welfare that informs their expectations. This pandemic has shown the immense care that the UVA faculty and staff have for the student body. We thank you.

The adaptation which the University of Virginia has been able to achieve in these trying times has been truly unprecedented. Beyond the overt security critiques which could be made of specific video conferencing solutions which I understand no alternatives were available for (Zoom), the Spring 2020 semester continued with substantial normalcy. I hope that similar success is encountered during the Summer 2020 period and these measures can inspire assistance for students with novel career path such as myself, who is pursuing work with the Executive Office of the President in Fall 2020.

I just wanted to thank all the professors for their great effort in trying to normalize our college learning experience on these abnormal times. I believe you were given an impossible, yet incredibly important task, to accomplish, in which you did awesome. Thank you for all the hours spend on the camera, despite the tediousness that technology may bring, to record or teach live lectures. Thank you for being patient with us and answering our emails and questions right away. Thank you for accommodating our needs and request. Especially, thank you for your consideration and empathy on this strange and difficult times, you are true heroes!

Thank you to all the teachers and TA’s in the E-school for being understanding, helpful, responsive, and sympathetic during these strange times. I had one teacher give us his personal phone number so that we could text or call him if we needed help with anything. Acts like these make me proud to be part of the amazing Hoo community. I cannot wait to be back in person as soon as it is safe. And I appreciate the hard work of all my teachers and TAs put into their classes to help us learn while meeting in person is unsafe.

I'm so grateful for my wonderful professors who have gone to extreme lengths to make sure that the semester progressed smoothly under the current circumstances. Their dedication to their students is remarkable and I appreciate the time and effort that they put into moving all of their courses and content online. I've never had to ask for an extension before, but my power went out after a severe storm one night and I was not able to find a new place to study since everything is closed due to the virus. I had no other choice but to ask for an extension. I quite frankly felt embarrassed that I couldn't turn in one of my assignments on time. However, my professor for that class was very understanding to my situation and graciously granted me all the time that I needed in order to get it done. It is in times like these where we need to be understanding of each other's situations, and that's exactly what all of my professors have demonstrated. Thank you UVA faculty and TA's for all of your hard work!

The transition to online learning and quarantine has been difficult for everyone. Being home, for me, has meant taking care of my grandmother who has advanced dementia while my parents (thankfully) go to work. The balance between acting as a caretaker with the expectations of a U.Va. student has been fraught with a number of different challenges, but so many of my professors and TAs have been amazingly understanding about helping me in anyway they can. Whether it is extended deadlines or simply a kind note in an email, I am so grateful for my professors and TAs going the extra mile during this turbulent time when we all have so many things on our plates. Thank you and please stay healthy!!!

The transition to online classes has been challenging for everyone, but especially for the ASL department as it’s a visual language that relies heavily on person-to-person interaction. Despite this, the ASL professors ... have been fantastic and so flexible. Classes have carried on without a hitch! Honestly can’t thank them enough for their understanding and dedication to their students.

I cannot thank the TAs of physical chemistry this semester enough for how hard they worked to help us understand the material. Despite having their own classes to attend to, they worked around the clock to hold office hours and answer our questions. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated!

I am extremely grateful for the UVA faculty and TAs who have been so accommodating during these extraordinary times. Even though the transition to online learning was difficult for both students and staff, I am so glad to have had such incredible support from all of my professors and TAs. I never once felt like I was alone, and I am so lucky to be at a school that cares so deeply about the education and well-being of its students. I cannot thank you all enough.

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to adapt your course material to online courses and yet within a few days UVA was up and running virtually. I know that many of you have had to adjust to this new format while facing many additional challenges at home. Despite this, you have also helped students bear the burden of the new hardships that they have been faced with as well. These past few weeks, UVA has shown that we are adaptable and won't let difficulties get in the way of our mission for educational excellence. At the same time, my professors have been extremely understanding and willing to compromise because they understand that we are all going through the same pandemic in different ways. Even though this semester was unlike any other, I still leave it just as proud to be a UVA student and part of the great UVA community.

The professors at UVA are phenomenal. I grew a lot as an engineer and as a person because of them. I am thankful for the time they commit to developing great curriculum and the time they invest into students. They kept feeding me when I was hungry to learn more, but they also knew when to lend a hand during the times I was struggling. Thank you so much to all of my professors! Your devotion to educating the next generation is inspirational.

I would just like to thank the professors at UVa for another successful year of engineering, despite the pandemic. Many of you displayed excellence in the realm of academia through lectures and office hours, and I thank you guys for that (I am relatively busy on-grounds during the days at UVa, and normally can't make it to many OH). I hope you guys have a great summer break, and I hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy during this time.
