This New Deal Program was completed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1940.

The canal flows Northeast through Reno and Sparks to the Wild Creek Golf Course. The canal is called 'Orr Ditch’

The outcome of this improvement project included Manzanita Lake and it still holds water on the university.
