The time we fought Covid-19 by Rosángeles Pereyra

My dear students,

We are living a difficult situation, no doubt about it. Would you like to share your thought and how you are feeling with the rest of the class? Some questions you might like to answer

What do you miss the most of your life before Covid 19?

Who are you most worried about?

How do you spend your time now you cannot go out?

Could you share some amusing activities to do while we are in quarantine?

How long do you think we would have to be in quarantine?

What consequences could Covid 19 bring?

These questions are just suggestions. You can choose to answer other questions. You can answer one or more than one . Or all of them. Or maybe you prefer just to add a poem in English, or a song, or a picture that symbolizes the fight of human beings .

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you and your relatives are all well protected at home.
Answering the questions the teacher has asked. What I miss most before the Covid-19 is when I used to go out for a walk, to the beach with my dogs, to the supermarket without impediments, to visit my family, stay with my friends etc ...

I am mainly concerned about my parents because they are my closest relatives who are still going to work . But I am also concerned about the general population, especially the older people who are the most vulnerable. But I must also say that people have to be aware of their actions, we must all stay at home to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

I'm quite busy, though because I study on line as all my colleagues. I also take time to do things that I like as to be with my dogs, to read books that I had since Christmas and that I had not yet read, to spend time talking to my family, watch series, to do various cooking recipes, to clean things, etc..

You can spend your time at home as I already mentioned before being with your family and pets if you have, watching series that have for a long time wanted to watch , reading your favorite books, cooking etc ...

As I have seen in the news the 30th March will be the first fortnight since the state of alarm was proclaimed in Spain, but I think this will last longer, perhaps until after the Easter holidays or who knows if it will last longer still. We just have to wait for the days and weeks to pass,to listen to the authorities and comply with the necessary precautions so that every stage passes as quickly as possible.

A big hug to all the world, I hope you are all well. Take care!!!

Ciclo

Hello . This is a totally unexpected situation for all of us. Sometimes I think that is going to be only for few days but sometimes I also think that this is the end of the world as we know. Not like a dramatic situation but a new reality where may things can be totally different from the way they used to be. I dont know if better or worse, but different. I must confess that sometienes I feel sad. My daily routine is quite basic. Im trying to do some physical exercise online and watch films and series in original version with Spanish subtitles. I remember that you said English subtitles are better butI dont know if I can be able to understad everything so I prefer Spanish by now.
I should start to read some books. I have manyat home that have not been read by me.
I hope this situation ends as soon as possible although the news are not very optimistic. I always complained about getting up for the English lessons but now I would wish to do it.
I hope you all are fine.

Although I'm one of those who have to keep going to work, when I get home I feel like a caged bird.
My life until the beginning of this crisis was average., I had my job, my house, my family, my friends and I walked, if I like to walk an hour a day; In short, your freezes and you enter a spiral of fear, panic, hysteria and then you relax, and so every day.
Right now my biggest concern is my family, although I also care about the elderly, our elders.
With this situation I have tried to continue with my routines, but I cannot because my mind is going too fast. That is why I do not know what activities I do, because the truth is that I do not do much more than watching TV, tidying up the house and studying.
How long should we be in quarantine? Well, the truth is that I don't know,
I do know that these measures are necessary so that this can stop as quickly as possible. We must learn to relax and take it as a learning time, to know ourselves, we have to know that we can and are capable of coping
I see negatively, the loss of human lives and the global economy, apart from this there are positive things such as the union of families or seeing from our window how our planet is healing itself

See you soon

Probably, if someone had told us t, we would have said it was crazy.
Fortunately, I'm lucky: I'm living with my boyfriend, I'm still working and we have a pet! But when I think of some many people who live alone I feel so sad for them
I have some friends in that situation, and I try to keep in touch and do something to have fun together . For example, all the afternoons my friend Silvia and I look for a training in Instagram and we do it together we are alert just in case there is a video call for us. This is a way to feel like we still are going to train togheter thanks to the social networks.

Although it's a very difficult moment, I think thiswould us a valuable lesson about how we waste our time, sometimes in not really important things.
Without any doubt, our lives won't be the same when this is over and it depents on us learn from it or not.

Some people ask for a strong and firm quarantine that could stop the spread of the coronavirus. They argue the pandemic would not have extended if we had taken strong social isolation measures before, like China were the infection is now under control. Prevention is better than cure or better safe than sorry
In contrast, others are against an extreme quarantine. It turns out that South Korea is fighting successfully this infectious disease and they aren't keeping the population locked up in their houses. One argument put up is that the mental and physical health of people, in the stressful situation we are living, would be endangered if we were not allowed to do physical exercise outdoors. Another argument is the breakdown of the economy.
While this discussion is taking place in the social media, the disease is spreading and more and more people are getting infected. Maybe the most important measure is giving good and clear information about the affection, how to proceed to prevent the illness, how to maintain good hygiene, why avoid social contact, and then engage all the population in the fight against Covid 19. We are not as disciplined as oriental people, however if we want to win this war we have to be.

I would like to share with you a poem that I happened to discover in one of the many films that thanks to the coronavirus I am seeing again. This is the 116 sonnet of Sakespeare. Here I leave it to you.....

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments: love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
Oh no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom
If this be error and upon me proved
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
A lot of encouragement to everyone . Kisses

It is no time to cry out
Now we are in lockdown at home due to the Coronavirus Covid-19. Our principal goal now is to spend less time with other people to stop the spreading of Coronavirus. This situation implies a big change in our lifestyle, especially for Spaniards , but it will help all the Country in this war against this threat.
Maybe we will experience some problems during this lockdown. Living in a confined space is not easy, sharing a small space with more people for a prolonged length of time, can generate tensions and problems at home. But we can do something to help and to reduce problems during this period. Creating a personal space can help to reduce problems, but also sharing time with the people and doing some activities together may help. Another possibility is to have some private time for you, reading a book can be a good idea in some moments, but also try to do some exercise.
On the other hand, however, the lockdown can be a good opportunity to recover old habits in the house, sharing more time with family or friends will strengthen the bonding, and probably you will have more time to share your worries and ideas with the persons surrounding you in the house. Last, but not the least you will have more time to clean the house, to put some order in the old stuff, to make some repairs in your house, and probably you can also find some time to finish old pending jobs, like to improve our English (hahaha….).
And probably the best thing about this lockdown will be that people will discover after this period will be that we can survive without soccer, but we can’t survive without research!
So, we must be optimistic and think about how we will celebrate the end of this nightmare.
Mates, take care and look after yourselves. We must hang out for a coffee or a beer after we recover our normal life. It is a deal!

Be safe and healthy.

Ciclo
Hello everyone, here I continue with the confinement trying to take it as easy as possible. I’m doing everything that have to be done, and when not I’m playing videogames, watching movies and series or reading a good book, a routine that repeats itself day by day.

Technology has saved me from the tedium of the hours that do not pass and the days that are lengthening. What would we do if we didn't have internet now? More than one would die , starting by me hahaha

I don't want to alarm you , but I've always thought that the end of the world would come with a virus rather than an asteroid. That nature is very wise and that it would take its course to protect itself from us who are the most destructive animal on Earth and that thanks to this terrible situation that we are going through, others beings are in perfect harmony. It is curious, isn’t it?
My biggest concern right now is people who don't take care of themselves and thus neglect others, starting with the people who are at risk. ... people who laugh at what is happening and skips the rules like if it were a simple joke; people who take advantage of what is happening to rob the weakest ones… Sometimes I think that life is giving this planet something it deserved for the treatment that humanity has given to Earth… but behind the evil, the light is also seen on the balconies of those who have ingenuity, of people who have a lot and want to do their bit, from the professionals who work hard day by day to save the lives of those who fight for it.
I don´t have an idea on how long we will be like this, since not everyone takes it as seriously as they should, but I am clear that those of us who are aware will come out of this stronger and more united. And now although life is limited to walks from the bedroom to the living room, from the living room to the kitchen or to the bathroom, we still have many kilometers to do and new places to discover. Finally, many of us will learn how to appreciate the freedom that we have to go wherever we want and when we want and also the power of a good hug.
The motto of “unity is strength” is more evident than ever. Because together, we will all get ahead. Cheer up everyone, and let's enjoy the little things that our home provides us.

I hope everyone's well.
In these moments I miss kissing and hugging my family; the one that worries me the most is my mother, because she is already a risk and my niece, who is a nurse at October 12, You can imagine that I am in a panic all day; I spend my time studying although I am not in the mood for anything but something has to be done. I do housework and follow the news, This is affecting a lot of people who have been suspended from work and is creating anxiety among people, I hope it ends soon, I think we all hope the same but, apparently this virus came to stay, as nothing seems to stop it . I wish they find a vaccine soon.
I say goodbye wishing you all the best and we can soon see each other.
Take care and stay at home please
Many kisses.

Hello boys and girls.
I hope you are all very well. We are going through a very difficult time, an emeergengy moment, due to a global pandemic that has already affected many people, cities and entire countries. You feel fear, pain, frustration and helplessness for all that this SILENT enemy is destroying.
We must and we have the obligation to help and we can only do it in a unique way. TO STAY AT HOME.
Only in this way we can fight against it to help ourselves and others.
We just have to have faith that all this anguish, this chaos will pass and that we can return to our daily life, but even being better human beings.
I suppose that our days are almost the same for everyone, taking care of our children, cooking, cleaning, studying, watching TV, but I think that for the first time in life we can say that we are all collaborating for the same cause.
I really miss being able to see my friends, going out with the family, eating our or going for a walk. Enjoy my co-workers, going to classes that for me was the best day of the week to disconnect a bit from the routine.
I feel bad for all those who now want to be bored at home like me and who, on the contrary, are in a hospital, or are no longer there.
I just want to thank you for your input and remember to stay home.
I hope to see you soon......
And remember.....
Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger ......
and they never last forever.

In my opinion it is very important to stay at home these days because they are critical to control the spread of COVID-19.

I'm stuck at home from my birthday 12th until the quarantine ends so I'm taking care of my son all day and my wife is the only person who goes outside for work.

I'm really worried for the elderly people who are more vulnerable to coronavirus and the mortality rate higher for older and the front line people who works in hospitals without the masks.

Good points are that you can you spend lot of time with your children watching films or playing some board games in family.

When the covid19 will be defeated there will be a lot of births, divorces and a great loss of money and jobs.

I strongly recommend not to go out because the police are fighting against people who don’t respect the quarantine so if is needed outside always wear a mask and gloves and try to avoid approaching people.

Please take care of yourself and family, See you soon!
