There were many different sports that a citizen of the Renaissance could either partake in or simply watch and enjoy. From a noble point of view the sports played by the upper class were jousting, fencing, horsemanship, archery, and tournament field or "lists". Some sports that the lower class enjoyed were calcio, wrestling, and early forms of "stick" games such as lacrosse and hockey.

cases the event is a show for the viewers just as well as it is a competition. Renaissance

sports connect to modern sports through a subtle use of theatrics and the emphasis

of entertainment in the sports industry
