Denise,

I love the background you chose for your padlet. It makes me want to watch the sunset on a beach. I also enjoyed reading your take on the philosophers. It was very interesting to read since we picked similar philosophers and had very different takes on their work.

As Deb and Shelley have mentioned I love the quote you chose from Plato. This is another quote that I want to frame or put on a flower pot in my office. I love quotes because I think they remind of the things we have learned. This quote reminds us that we need to surround ourselves with good people to help us grow and also to be the good person to help our students and colleagues grow as well.

Hi Denise -
The information you included for the philosophers you chose was clear and informative. I also chose Plato for the first one, though I did not see that quote. I really like it - I think I will use that for my teens right now as they are navigating the social scene!

I appreciated your information on Dewey. I had debated on including him in my matrix as well. You recognized the impact his family members had on his philosophies, which is a good reminder that it is not just formal educational or professional mentors that shape our ideology. His mother's influence was evident in his work and was truly the foundation of his ideas around education. Overall, his teachings on experimental and reflective teaching are so essential to nursing education in particular. This is where our clinical and practicum experiences solidify the classroom learning and really prepare them for practice.

Thank you for sharing Denise - your matrix was helpful for me to learn more about these philosophers!
