Although this argument is skewed, I partly agree with its sentiment. If we cancel everyone who has made a mistake, then people will be hesitant to make any mistake, which is all part of being a human being. However, this does not excuse malicious behavior (like from Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein). I interpreted this comic as humans can be flawed, but we cannot hold them to every mistake.

If you apologize, it will all go away.

This comic implies that the only way to escape cancel culture is to give up "your spine". The illustrator is trying to say that one shouldn't apologize for what they're being cancelled for, because it means that they're feeding into the masses' wishes.

However, if one does apologize, there is a high chance that they will not be "un-cancelled".

Therefore, cancel culture is truly "all talk and no action". Social media can "call out" a person but the person being cancelled cannot apologize because their apology might be deemed insincere.

Like a car crash in slow motion, I might be the first to admit that cancel culture can be morbidly entertaining.

A couple years ago, Dr. Suess was cancelled for publishing "racist images" in his children's books. As someone who read his books as a child, I could not stop reading updates and gritty details on his cancellation.

It does not help that everyone else seems to be just as invested, with the constant social media callouts and awareness posts.

Recently, there was a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. There has been little to no media coverage on the chemical plume, which polluted the water in the town.

Officials have deemed the water safe for consumption, despite the clear chemical pollutants and deceased marine animals.

I've seen little to no articles on this topic. Why haven't we cancelled city officials for endangering East Palestine citizens?

In recent times, the 2020 BLM protests were a subjectively great example of cancel culture. There were substantial social results that came out of these protests. Plus, since everyone was at home due to the pandemic, more people were online and participated in these protests.

In this case, there was talk and action.
