Mrs. Harlan covers a several aspects of classroom management. She even collaborated with fellow teachers so students would have the same expectations in every room. I loved how she allowed students to have an influence on the way the class would be structured.

I feel like my biggest classroom management issue is quieting down a class. In this video, the teacher stresses the importance of using different cues so I do not raise my voice to get students to quiet down. I usually get a little louder to get students to quiet down and that rarely works for me so this gave me new ideas to gain attention and quiet down the room.

This article talks about maintaining clear and consistent communication so students know what is expected of them and they feel like they are able to come to me with things. Maintaining clear communication will allow me to tell them when I think something is not working and allows them to speak up when they believe their should be a change. If students feel like they have a voice, they will respect the management strategies in place.
