When people in developed countries have leisure time, the vast majority spends some time listening to music or watching TV. So, these artists and actors inevitably become 'famous', or widely known throughout a population and 'stalked' through social media. Beyonce's prominence both as an artist and a person in social media posts, such as in appreciation posts and fan accounts, shows that she is revered and respected. It is almost as if she is a higher-up politician, but really, she is just an artist. How celebrities have a probably greater effect on people than high-up politicians is unknown, but just shows that popular culture has become an extremely important aspect of social life in the United States.

In American cities, a sisyphean task would be driving thirty minutes without seeing a fast food chain store. Whether it be McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Wendy's, Carl's Junior, etc., fast food stores have silently become an important part of American culture. Though our society is heterogeneous in terms of origin and beliefs, the inexpensive and quick ways of acquiring food in fast food restaurants have become familiar to all Americans alike.

Denim jeans, in general, are worn by everybody in the community as casual clothes.  The diffusion of jeans across the United States show that people are wearing clothes for comfort not for propriety, like before.  Jeans are also seen as comfortable, easy to move in, and a form of fashion with short jeans, long ones, ripped ones, and etc. Some schools don't accept leggings, thereupon young adults wear jeans to school daily. Denim jeans can be paired up with various other kinds of clothes: tops, shoes, accessories, you name it. This is also an important style of clothing for millenials and society.

Starbucks has become a beacon of familiarity for United States citizens, whether it be drinking their daily dose of caffeine, looking at the millions of snapchats and instagram posts of Starbucks drinks, or even just passing by a Starbucks every day. Seasonal drinks in Starbucks (Pumpkin Spice Latte, etc.) have even gone so far to be considered an American custom and is largely discussed on social media. Starbucks holds large claims in other developed countries, such as the United Kingdom and Japan, but most everyone knows that Starbuck's hearth is located in the United States.

The many iPhones made by Apple are used by the majority of the population in United States.  This is another representative of the modern popular culture and society.  There is an increase in people using the Apple iPhones.  The invention of the iPhones also make calling others easier, staying connected with friends and families more convenient, and overall it makes life a lot more relaxing for the masses.  There is also an aesthetic part to this; the public usually pick a case in order to protect the phone from being broken.  Therefore, they will choose cases with designs to suit their tastes.  iPhones are reaching the point where it wouldn't be possible for some of the community to remove this from their lives. It is an integral part of society now.

Like the internet, Social media is also becoming a necessity in daily life.

But digital software like Netflix, that can be used on TV's and digital handheld devices has changed the game. Netflix is something that is only present in mainstream, usually developed countries that have access to internet and the money to spend on these leisure activities. Netflix represents a new found streamline(or laziness) of humans attempting to find a variety of their preferences with as little effort and cost as possible.
