The death penalty will make people aware of the serious consequences of their decisions. The death penalty is more surreal than set jail time. This can protect citizens from future killers/ murderers. Our system demands a higher standard for any and all death cases so all death penalty cases are rightfully deserved. Some can claim that the death penalty is expensive but a life without parole case can actually end up costing more.

1) the death penalty can cause economic problems and could cause more tax payers dollars - the use for these tax dollars include: more trials and pre-trials, more layers and attorneys, and two trials may be done rather than one; one for guilt and one for punishment.

2) many times we get the wrong person in less serious cases, so what makes us think that when the stakes are higher then everyone can get it right?
-87 people have been freed from death row because later they were proven innocent
-proven rate of innocent-guilty is 1-7

3) attorney quality might not be good enough or suitable for the job at hand: many attorneys have little or no experience, so why would we, a fair country give a bad attorney to poor people who can't afford a good attorney that could possibly save an innocent life?
-for every three death penalty convictions there are two that have been overturned on appeal because of the police and proprietorial misconduct

4) The American Medical Association's oath is that they must always "protect lives", but requiring these physicians to participate in the lethal injections make them unable to obey their original oaths

According to
"The Death Penalty: Questions and Answers," ACLU.org
Apr. 9, 2007 "[T]here is no credible evidence that the death penalty deters crime more effectively than long terms of imprisonment. States that have death penalty laws do not have lower crime rates or murder rates than states without such laws. And states that have abolished capital punishment show no significant changes in either crime or murder rates." From this, we can know that death penalty doesn't discourage people in doing crime. Criminals aren't afraid of the punishment and it's not wortj
