In what ways has your protagonist changed and evolved?

During my novel she has changed in so many ways in a little amount of time do to the circumstances. She started off as small and kind of shy, then moved up to a brave, smart person. She now puts others first while before she probably would have just saved her own skin. She has worked to accomplish goals to better her life, and so far they have. Quote "Do to the damages of the ship, this gives me another 8 days to find my sister, and maybe, just maybe she can come aboard to."

What social commentary do you think your author was making with this novel? What is the author saying or warning about today's world?
In my novel the author was showing that the world could out of no where just come to an end and how it could affect humans and our daily lives. He is showing how if it were ti happen that it could change people and how the respect each other. For example in the novel this lady took a shower and wasn't supposed to, and she got completely kicked of the ship during a tsunami. It quoted "We have had eleven people die from the tsunami, so that opens up some spots. You may stay on the ship, but your mother must go, she has proven to not be trustable."

What aspects of the Dystopian society are found in your novel? What statement is the author trying to make by utilizing that particular aspect? What is the change that your character/s are attempting to bring about? Do you think they will be successful and if so, will the change bring what they hope?

Her society is very harsh and there are no leaders to dictate what will happen, along with no laws to stop people from doing bad things. She doesn't want to live in that world and is still attempting to get along a space ship so she doesn't have to live in the deserted planet. And to try and change her fate of being stuck on earth, she helps whenever possible to try and get aboard, in the text she repeatedly says "Is there anything I can do to help you?" and this is to many many people.

Thinking back to the aspects of the Hero's Journey that we studied during the Odyssey, What are some of the elements that are also utilized in your novel and with your protagonist?
Some things that are similar with the characters would be having a team, and being willing to help one another. My character is putting her life in front of others plenty of times. For example there was a Tsunami coming for where they were and she was putting her life in front of others helping them, and so were her friends. In the text one of the boys said, "If they don't let you on this ship, I will tear it down with this very crowbar."

Right now Iris's mom is high and they are forced to leave the bunker do to some actions of the mother, yet Iris is just trying to figure out a way to make this easier and make their lives better during the end of the world. She has autism and is very shy. She is still smart and you cant really tell she has autism. Iris is pretty skinny with brown hair. I like iris because she is smart and finds away out of all problems. This girl Iris is very scared for her life after finding out a comet impact is coming and her mom is no help really because she is a druggy and kind of crazy. She is dealing with this quite well on the outside, but on the inside she is very scared that she might not survive this, and might not find her dad and other sister when the time comes.

What aspects of Dystopian control is being presented in your novel? How are the characters handling them? Do any of these aspects of Dystopian Control resemble conditions happening in our world today?

One of the aspects of dystopian control in my book is, this family did not have anywhere to go but this bunker wouldn't let them stay there because they were not useful enough to stay and work there. Iris is one of the family members who cant stay there for long, but she really wants to. She is trying to work as hard as possible to prove her family deserves to stay in that bunker and secure them a spot in it. From what I know none of these dystopian controls resemble much of how we work today. A quote from this text would be, "Again I repeat, you may stay here for two days, your ability's are not needed here."

In the Dystopian Elements handout, there are six examples of conflicts the protagonist/main character might got through. These are not the only conflicts the character might encounter, but just a start. Identify at least one internal conflict your main character is experiencing.
Example:
At the beginning of 1984, Winston, the protagonist, is feeling trapped. There is a great deal of describing the Big Brother posters and how the eyes seemed to follow people. In the apartment, Winston also is very deliberate about having his back to the telescreen or having his facial expression set before turning so the telescreen could "see" him and what he was doing. The layout of his apartment was described, but not with furniture, but as to what areas of the apartment could not be observed by the telescreen.
I also see Winston taking a stand against the establishment. Ignorance is valued and thinking as an individual is considered a crime. Winston buys a journal - illegally and goes to great lengths to find an old pen with which to write in the journal. Just writing/keeping a journal or diary is a punishable act, yet he goes to great lengths to begin to do so and in an area of the apartment that the telescreen cannot "see". This journal, I believe, is going to be an important aspect of Winston's journey.

Describe the setting of your Dystopian novel. Is it similar to anywhere you have visited, viewed, read about, heard about?

Example:
I am at the very beginning of 1984. The setting comes across as very urban and somewhat cold and desolate. I do not get the idea that it is winter. Rather, the descriptions lead me to think of an area that is bleak and lacking of trees, flowers, nature. The desolate description could also be more of the character's feelings toward the world he lives in.
pg. 5 "Outside, even through the window pane, the world looked cold."
pg. 6 "Down the street, little eddies of wind were whirling dust and torn paper into spirals, and though the sun was shining and the sky a harsh blue, there seemed to be no color in anything except the posters that were plastered everywhere."
As I am just at the beginning of the novel, I am not sure if the setting described is true for the entire world or just that city and/or group.
