<title>One tone could be sympathy, this story was based in the great depression and these men were trying their hardest to make a living and survive, even when George is having to deal with Lennie who is in some way mentally impaired. This makes the reader sympathetic to the characters.</title>

<title>Dreams and what they represent can be a theme in the story, Of Mice and Men, because throughout the book many dreams were expressed through the characters. Several different characters used a hope, or a dream to comfort themselves in a really hard time in their lives. One of the biggest examples would be when George continues to tell Lennie that they are going to have their own farm with lots of animals. He said those things to comfort Lennie, and in a way continue to hold onto hope.</title>
