The movie named “The Birds” relates to “The Age of Miracles” because something is happening to the birds in both novel and movie.

In both of these works, there is one similarity between the two. They both portray birds as being the messenger of some evil force or something bad will coming for all of the planet. In the video, you see the birds are the black which can be associated with evil and, in cases, death. Also the birds attack the children, which is seen as a big offense and being evil. This shows the birds are trying to convey some message to the rest of the world, most likely evil. In the novel, the birds are not evil, but they bring words of caution. As seen in the book, more birds die on the streets showing this isn’t just a coincidence that all the birds keep dying. These deaths are trying to show us that we should be cautious, because something like that may happen to our characters next. In the end, both works show birds to be messengers of caution, or even messengers of evil.

The birds in the video act a lot like the birds in the novel because of their unusual behavior. The birds in the novel are dying and in the video they are attacking people. Bird in the book seem to have to have some relationship to the slowing though not certain it seems that the the slowing was caused by humans and the birds death is a part of the cross fire. In the flim instead of the birds dying because of humans they seem to be doing the opposite by attacking the humans. Bird ares also know for being connected to a messenger, so when the bird act strangely it isn't a good sign in both the novel and flim the birds act in a strange way

The bird act weird in the clip by attacking the kids who were trying to run away. In the book they are just dying and running into windows. The students look scared and shocked just like mostly everyone in the book. This hows and proves that there is a change and turn of events.

THE END IS NEAR

The video can relate to the novel because the birds are doing something that would not actually happen. In the video the birds are attacking all of the children. In the novel the birds are dropping dead out from the sky. In real life birds would not attack you unless you start to attack them. Also, birds in real life would run into a window occasionally. In the video there must have been a outbreak of a disease for the birds or something else that made them do this. In the novel there was a disease for the birds that made them die. As you can see the novel relates to the video because there could have been an outbreak.

These two things are relatable because of the importance birds have in these two things. Birds are often known to have a sixth sense. When something bad is going to or is happening birds usually change their behavior. In the novel Age of Miracles the birds are falling from the sky unable to fly. In the trailer for The Birds you can see all the birds attacking the humans which is abnormal behavior for birds, this shows that something bad is going to happen.

In the story, at a time the children run to the hill behind the school because of the “eclipse”. In this case the “eclipse” is also the same chaotic event as the crows swarming and attacking the children and teacher. The students are scared and shocked just like mostly everyone in the novel. “The Birds” and “The Age of Miracles” are very similar in the case as the shock in everyone's emotions.

Eva Tosca
Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" clip of the birds attacking the students relates to the novel because in both "The Birds" and "The Age of Miracles" birds are acting irregularly. In the novel birds are mysteriously dying, in the movie birds have become violent. Also, in "The Age of Miracles" and "The Birds" people have no idea as to why the birds are dying and cannot prove they are acting for any specific reason.

Panic

This video relates to the events in the novel because in both the video and the novel there is some sort of panic. In the novel, it is because of the slowing, but in the video, it is because the birds are attacking them. Also, in both the novel and the video, people mind their own business. What I mean by that is that in the novel, no one stands up for the right of the real timers, they just keep on living their lives normally, even though it is not right for the people that follow real time to be segregated from society. In the video, the teacher and the little girl are the only ones to stop to help the girl that fell. If they hadn’t helped her, she could have been killed by the birds.

David T.

I think that in both stories there is some sort of panic. Whether it is because there are evil birds attacking people or maybe the earth's rotation has been slowed. The scene reveals a lot of panic made by the screaming and all of the hysteria that is going on. In the book, panic is achieved by having two factions (real and clock timers) collide and both are scared of what will happen next. The panic in the book is more contained within humans scared of a possible apocalypse happening and they are also scared because they do not know what is happening. The thing man fears most is the unknown...

Just like in "The Birds" when the teachers says they have to run they automatically feel a rush and or in some type of fear. In both plots they are also introduced to a problem yet they have to overcome it by changing their clock times or sleeping while the sun is out. Or like in The Birds where they have to be quiet so they are not heard and then run for their life. Aside from those similarities they are both deep into some type of bird. In the novel "The Age of Miracles" birds start6 to die due to gravity. In 'The Bird" the crows start to viciously attack the students and the adults.

The birds are going crazy and doing things they usually wouldn’t like in The Age of Miracles when the birds suddenly start dying. This also relates to the book because there is no explanation for why this is happening in the clip we saw. Another reason why it is like the book we are reading is because everybody is in a panic and everything is happening at the same time. This relates because people are doing crazy things and they are also scared and confused. They have no idea what to do now or what to do about it.
