The Starry Night is a famous painting created by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh in 1889 and is considered one of the author's most famous masterpieces. Van Gogh's style is characterized by bold, lively brushstrokes, which give a sense of movement and vitality to the work.

The Starry Night was painted from the asylum room and portrays the landscape of a village with a cypress on the left, in the center there is a typical Dutch church bell tower and on the right a dense vegetation. Above this small town there is a large starry sky with swirling skies and aura around the stars which have been interpreted as the symbolism of Infinity or as hallucinations resulting from Van Gogh's mental illness.

Van Gogh in this painting attempted to express a sense of tranquility and wonder at the beauty of the night sky. Through his intense brushstrokes he wanted to convey the emotion and spirituality he felt when observing the stars and the surrounding nature. In this work we can see how the author had a deep connection with nature and his internal struggle.

The midnight blue and bright yellow tones capture his unique perception of the night sky, while the light colors are strengthened by the combination of brushstrokes ranging from light blue to violet to the most intense blue. With precise strokes of yellow, orange and white, Van Gogh captures the intense brightness of this night sky. The brushstrokes follow the contours of the figures, expanding them out of all proportion.

Somehow it was what marked the border between hope and despair, between dream and nightmare, between the Yellow House and the asylum of Saint-Rémy.

The artist suffered from mental disorders, mainly characterized by hallucinations and seizures that made him depressed, anxious, and mentally confused.

In the painting Van Gogh expresses the inner drama he is experiencing; on the one hand the desire to live and on the other the sense of defeat and sadness and the desire to end it by not having found the right path in life.

Van Gogh often painted rural and natural landscapes, finding inspiration in the surrounding nature. He is said to have been fascinated by wheat fields and their beauty, seeing them as a symbol of life, fertility and human labor.
