At little bit about myself...I’m a TCK (third culture Kid) who was raised aboard in Dubai until I finished High-school and later came back to my home country Malaysia.

I love to listen to music and play my piano and sing.

A therapy that I enjoy is shopping and reality therapy, especially now due to covid we aren’t allowed to go out as much, then Instead I watch video on YouTube about purchasing items and I feel a sense of happiness and relief.

My pet peeves is that I don’t like complete darkness so I can’t sleep in total dark. Also, I’m not a fan of insects or any form of reptiles.

On a serious note, I would like to learn new things that I haven’t learned about and wish to apply the things I learned in class to my daily life and how it is relavent to the current issue and context.

I was born and raised in Selangor, Malaysia. I sometimes get confused in social situations but I try my best to be approachable and welcoming. I tend to listen more than talk because I like hearing people talk.

My interests are regular bookish stuff - reading, writing, drawing. I used to go to a science school, but I'm more of an arts person. I'm scared of heights and falling from heights, and I don't like cincau (grass jelly), for some reason. I really like literature reading and analysis classes and I'm looking forward to having fun here with everyone.

Salam! My name is Sharifah Nur Azizah, people can call me Azizah. I was born and grew up in Kuala Lumpur. I spent 5 years in a boarding school in Batu Pahat, Johor, and it was a bittersweet experience as I had to survive my high school while being away from my family.

I love spending time with my pets, rather than spending time with humans. As for now I have 2 lovely cats and 2 hamsters, and I am surely planning to have more pets in the future. Something about having pets makes me feel very calm and happy. Other than that, I cannot live without coffee, I am a coffee addict! But one of my new year resolutions is to control my daily caffeine intake, and so far, I have been doing great at it.

Lastly, I am very interested to learn more about literature since I took Shakespeare class during last semester. I am hoping to have a great time as I try my best to gain as much knowledge as I possibly can in this class. Thank you!

Assalamualaikum!
My name is Ma Li Ke, but Malik is what i go by.
I was born and raised in Malaysia, and I studied in Maz International School.

I love listening to music, especially classical music. Before the pandemic, I frequently visited the Malaysian Philharomnic Orchestra (MPO) because I really enjoy the energy that classical music has. My favorite composers include but not limited to Tchaikovsky, Bach, Paganini, and Mendelssohn. I play the violin, guitar and a fair amount drums when I was in highschool.

My favorite animals are cats, dogs, monkeys, chimpanzees, and apes (basically any non-human primate), because they are really similar to humans but does not have the selfishness of humans.

I do not particularly enjoy animal innards, like livers, lungs, and tongues. They have a weirdly specific taste that makes me gag, and I cannot swallow them.

Last but not least, I am looking forward to learning from the literature classes, because I see it to be in the same category of art as classical music, as we know, classical music is closely related with literature.

To speak of myself, the only interesting thing about me is that I speak 3 languages, almost- everyday, simultaneously, in a daily basis, to the point of finding myself fluent in none. A child stuck between cultures; one that of my ancestors-Bangladesh, where I was born, and the other Malaysia where spend half of life leading into adulthood.

I was born and grew up in Kuantan, Pahang. I love to listen to music, enjoy watching dramas and read online novels. I am interested in some languages like Korean and Chinese as I watch a lot of these countries' dramas especially during these few months of pandemic breaks.

As I grew up, I actually found myself becoming less confidence and tends to hide my insecurities in fronts of others. Hence, I tried to change myself by taking some communication classes this semester and hoping that I can become someone better in the future.

Lastly, since I likes to read novels and learning languages, I thought that I can have fun in learning literature. Well, I do find some analysis of these literature works sometimes is great so I'm looking forward to another class of literature this semester. Thank you!

Assalamualaikum, my name is Nur Kamilia, a 3rd year Benl student from Kuantan, Pahang. To be honest, I do not have any suitable picture of myself because I rarely took pictures of myself unless I am with a group of people.
I do not have specific things I enjoy doing. However, I do have a peculiar habit. My favorite time of the day is after Subh, few minutes before the sun rises(and while it is still dark), it is my favorite time to stare at the dark sky. The still and fresh air provides a soothing effect for me, but I do not enjoy the time to see the sunrise, I simply love the darkness. Some of the students mentioned whether they like linguistic or literature, I enjoy literature subjects more than linguistics though I still work hard for them all, therefore I am looking forward to this subject. Assalamualaikum and hi all, I'm Afifi, a 4th year BENL student!! I'm from Kota Bharu, Kelantan but currently staying in IIUM. I have so many follow ups with the Drs in HKL so I need to be anywhere nearest to the hospital. Since I have a medical condition, my routines these days revolve around something called 'self-care'. I wake up early for Subh and do yoga, meditation as well as quick work out to keep myself sane. It helps me to be grounded and energetic throughout the day. I enjoy watching movies and Youtube videos too!

After 4 years of studying English, I'm still not quite sure what I like. I feel so deeply connected to Linguistics and actually deciding on majoring in it. Well, I don't feel the same towards Literature. But here's the thing, I scored most of my Literature subjects but not in the Linguistics subjects. Well, it's kinda confusing right? But I have learnt to love both.

Growing up, I wasn’t really exposed to classical literature. In fact, my first time learning about renowned English poets/playwrights like Shakespeare was during my university years. So, you can imagine that I had no idea what (or rather who) Beowulf was. I am more of a linguistics person but I’ve never sidelined the importance of literature. I’m always excited for literature courses as most of the time I get to learn more about history and arts of the past. I believe literature courses that I have taken over the years have in some ways widened and shaped my perspective of the world.

I love literature and music, I spent my earlier years working part times at a book/music cafe here in town since the owner is a friend of my father's.
