Nixon and i traveled to China February 1972 to discuss improving relations with a communist country during the cold war . On this visit Nixon and his wife pat toured the Great Wall of china and other chinese sights . Nixon and I met with Meo Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai about international problems and how to deal with them .later on both came up with the agreement of expanding cultural contacts between the two nations . Nixon established a plan for a permanent U.S trade mission . Which was a good thing because it wasn't always this way . The only issues there were was that formal relations were not restored and it would take a few more years . Nixon did achieve his goal because china soon began to see greater trade relations .

We traveled to Vietnam to call for peace negotiations but also discuss troop withdrawl . While on our visit The Paris peace talk began in May !968 but failed to establish an agreement Nixon also announced a new policy known as " Vietnamization" . This Policy was to remove American forces and replace them with South Vietnamese soldiers . One issue we came across was Nixon wanting to defuse the war but he was so determined not to lose this prohibited him from passing his goal of detente .

Nixon and i traveled to the Soviet Union to support a nuclear arms agreement. While on our trip Nixon and Counterpart , Leonid Brezhnev agreed to a trade deal involving American wheat being sent to the USSR. There were no issues while visiting the Soviet Union . Nixon did accomplish his goal because after they made a trade deal both nations became a "joint venture" .
