I see a woman crying with mascara running down her face. I see tree branches, moose, feathers, a bow and arrow and leaves. This makes me think of indigenous women going missing to be raped killed and trafficked. Since the picture is black and white I think of the silence they have and how little awareness there is on the issue. I also see roses and that reminds me of the beauty of the indigenous culture and how poorly it is represented. 

First Video Prayer Loop Song
He looks exactly as into the music as many kids would at a school dance. He is very talented and great at beatboxing. The words aren’t entirely English but the sound was really fun and upbeat. It was unexpected that he was scratching records. There was a great message and I really enjoyed it.

Second song Sisters
The song has a great beat and the musicians are beautiful. The video looked exactly like an Ariana Grande music video. The style looks like a new fashion of traditional indigenous apparel. The song is vibrant and creative and I really enjoy it.

The crying face represents the suffering from the Residential Schools. The aboriginal peoples who attended the Residential schools were abused, raped, and treat poorly. The music was definitely not expected. I didn’t expect it to be upbeat like it was. I expected there to be a fire with everyone singing around it because of how I was taught. Seeing this really makes me question everything I know.

In the photo I seen an elk, flowers, branches, feathers, and antlers. The photo also looks like a face crying, maybe because of how white folk treat indigenous people. The elements from wildlife that I seen form his or her face connecting the face to their connection to wildlife and the wilderness.

At the end of class I was surprised that a band I like Redbone is actually indigenous people. The way the song was crafted, made it seem to be more like rock than what I would expect indigenous people’s music to be like.

After unlearning I would like to learn the truth, and what I wasn’t taught before.
