One of my last memories with my Dad took place on a beach like the one pictured. It was a quick conversation, but the words were exactly what I needed to hear. He loved me and would be there for whatever I needed. I cannot even share how many times my Dad said, just tell me what you need. I'm here for you. I have a lot of sweet memories of him overflowing with love, joy, and kindness to me as well as to my children.

My last conversation with my sweet brother was on July 23 when I called him and asked him if he would talk like Donald Duck for my grandson Micah. He did of course and then proceeded to tell me that he was sitting at the Sunbury Crab Co. by himself waiting for someone to join him and people were looking at him really strange because he was talking like a duck! His next words were words that came at the end of most of our conversations ... when can we get everybody together? I hope that can happen real soon. I love you...I can’t imagine how different our times together will be but I CAN ONLY IMAGINE what he is experiencing now..
Martha
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=fLNvHIWVnpE

Uncle Danny was one of the most loving, caring, and generous people I’ve ever known. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He truly made the most of his time here on Earth and I pray that he will watch over all of us from Heaven, sending us subtle reminders to let loose, have fun, listen to live music, and spend as much time together as possible. As I became an adult, learning how to manage finances, develop my career, vote, etc. Uncle Danny was always there with great wisdom, good conversation, and a smile! He was such a bright light in this world and in our family. I will miss him so so much!

I met up with Danny on FB a few years ago when he said “you may not remember me but we went to school together” to which I replied “are you kidding??? Of course I remember you!!! You were such a hunk back then!” From there it was apparent that we agreed on a lot of what is going on in the world. We shared the tragedy of losing a parent while we were still in high school. Something that marks you for life! He always posted the anniversary of losing his Dad and the anniversary of losing my Mom was right behind. One day he asked me “Do you think my Dad is proud of me?” And I replied with every assurance that I could that he absolutely was very very proud of the man he had become and how successful he was in life. I will dearly miss this guy who understood so well and listened so hard. Love ya brother! See you on the other side my dear friend.

I took this pic of Dano in the Virgin Islands last March. Love that smile. Grateful I was able to get to some quality time with him. Dano and the whole Robertson family have long been supporters of my band, and were the reason we were invited to this beautiful place to play music and hangout.

Dano entered my life in 2006 when I moved to Savannah, playing gigs with my band. Brenden and Dano and the whole Robertson family we’re a huge part of our support system, from helping us with sound gear, and championing us (and every local musician) at their venues. Talking about music with him was a treat, his genuine enthusiasm made YOU excited, no matter what kind of day you were having.

Getting to see the Robertson family bond first hand was a special thing. It was clear Dano was at the heart of that closeness. Tight knit is an understatement. He cherished that bond and he always MADE IT KNOWN to everyone that he cherished it. "You know I love y'all, right?" was a frequent close to any convo. Which is a great lesson from him - share your appreciation and affection for others - don’t hide it - it only makes it grow. He was open and uninhibited with love for his family and community, I always admired that. If you were around him, you couldn’t help but feel that authentic joy.

He made sure no one ever felt like a stranger (which was easy for him because he was funny as hell). I know MANY bands who left their show at Livewire feeling like they gained a dear friend, and couldn’t wait to come back.

My life in Savannah would have had way less magic and meaning without him and the whole Robertson family. They made it feel like a second home, and for me and Passafire crew, second family. I will always cherish the late night jams (Dano on the cowbell!) and convos had at Livewire. Absolutely legendary.

Thank you for everything Dano. Love you.

- Will K

My Brother passed away August 27, 2019. He didn’t want a funeral but rather a “celebration of his life with music”. We knew there would be many musicians that would want to be a part of this, but didn’t know where to host. A good friend of mine called and said hey “Live Wire “ wants to host and is donating the facility and staff. You see my brother Mark and Danny had formed that bond that Danny was obviously so good at doing. I didn’t know Danny long but will remember the way he touched my life forever! As Mojo Mark would say “Ramble On” my friend, see you on the other side!

Danno-In-Law

I am not a Robertson. But Danny treated me like one for the past 19 years ever since I stepped up to his front door to take his only daughter out for our first date. Erin did me no favors by telling him just before I arrived that, "Dad, I think this is the guy I'm supposed to marry." Danno busted my chops from day one and never let up! You see, he didn't do subtle. That's really not his thing. He was larger than life at times, but I never wondered where I stood with him.

A few months later I called him just before I proposed, but all I got out of my mouth was, "So, Danny, I bought a ring..." and I literally had to pull the phone away from my ear because he was "whoo-hooing" so loudly. We announced our engagement 2 days later at the Robertson Family gathering on St. Patrick's Day, March 2002. He was fully in his element, walking on Cloud Nine. Family WAS his thing, and he loved showing off the pride he had for his daughter and the future member of the clan. Then came the wedding a year later. He insisted on throwing a party to remember. Once again, his family and friends were going to be there, and he wanted everyone to have a good time!

That's why this picture is so important to me. I mean, who has the audacity to sneak into the limo that's about to sweep away your daughter to a romantic honeymoon? Danno. I remember I was legitimately startled. He was sitting all the way up front in the darkened limo, being real still. Just as I was about to close the door he shouted, "SO...WHERE WE GOING?!" I can remember being embarrassed for being startled. Then I was angry for being embarrassed on my wedding day. Then I was laughing hysterically...because OF COURSE he would. And this picture captures that memory so well.

That was 17 years ago. Since then I learned so much from the man. Most of what I learned wasn't spoken, but observed. He was SO GENEROUS; with his time, his resources, his earthly treasures. During some of our darkest days he dropped everything and made the 6-hour drive to be there with us. Danno was like the ultimate safety net for us, for so many. We will miss him so much, yes, but we will also do all that we can to make sure that legacy lives on through our children. Their "GranDanny" was a true friend to them. After all, only true friends can get away with feeding you (at 4 years old) popcorn and Dr. Pepper for dinner while watching Iron Man when your parents are away.

I'm so thankful that my last words to you before we left the beach were "I love you," and "Thank you." I pray that I keep saying that with my life as long as I have breath. Thank you for everything. - Marty Mullis

Hello! I am Eloisa Collins, one of sir Danny’s friend/ client. Sir Danny is the most caring and sweetest person I’ve known. I met him in savannah through Mr. David Dingus in 2016. The first time i met him, I know that he’s the One that God sent me to help me on my financial problems. He’s like a father to me. He’s the one who helped me put the person that stole my money to jail. And still trying to help me with the people whose giving me a hard time with my money. He always give me hope and he always tell me to have faith in GOD. He always talk to me about how he love music and his son’s band. He’s so proud every time he talk about the band. He’s always happy every time I brought salad and sandwich when we meet at his office or at the bank. I know it’s gonna be hard for me to fight now on my case. There will be no more sir Danny that will give me strength and hope. 😢😢😢 I know that you’re with GOD now sir Danny. I want to thank you for helping me and for always being there. Thank you for not getting tired of giving me advices and giving me your time and service for free. You have helped me a lot!!!! Thank you so much!!!!

The last time we spoke I didn't exactly get along with Uncle Danny, not there is anything wrong with that, we simply have different perspectives. But he was very ardent and eloquent and ultimately we agreed to disagree.

The thing is that is what I always remember about him. He was so vital and filled with passion for everything he did. He poured so much of himself into everything it did and it shows here and in what he leaves behind.

I know I have been pretty distant since I left for California but Danny was a pretty constant fixture in my life before I left. He always made us feel welcome in his life.

It has been over a decade since I left Savannah and we haven't spoken much in that time but I think it is safe to say he would want y'all celebrating his life and his legacy.

To the rest of the Robertsons, my heart goes out to y'all. There is a big hole left in the shape of an incredible person. Don't let that become a chasm, use it to bring people together and build a fitting tribute. He'll always be with you in the way he impacted your lives.

-Ben B.

The first time I sat down to talk to you, you started telling me a hilarious story from growing up with one of my Mom’s best friends. You always made me realize how connected everything and everyone is. Your storytelling always made me smile. You really did treat me as family from the moment you met me. Your children have known the greatest love because of you. I see it echo out through all of them, their spouses and children. In the short time we got to spend together, you made two beautiful trips happen in our lives. I will never forget the silly jokes you played on me on Saint John, the smile on your face watching live music and enjoying dancing with everyone, the fun of being together and being grateful for life. In St. George I felt a special appreciation for you and everything you have done to give your family a beautiful life to live. You and I always made an effort to acknowledge our blessings and recognize how lucky we are. I thank you so much for who you are and who you inspired me to be, the love you gave everyone around you, the stories you told me, the advice you gave me, and the person you helped Brenden become. We’ll be noticing you when the pelicans fly close and low, when the dolphins swim right next to us, and when the turtles hatch. We love you so much. Julia
