In Year 8, I’ve learned a lot in English and have become more confident in my reading and writing skills. At the beginning of the year, I found some tasks, like analyzing texts and writing essays, a bit difficult. However, as I practiced more, I started to understand how to break down stories and find deeper meanings in them. I also became better at organizing my thoughts when writing essays and expressing my ideas clearly. Overall, Year 8 has helped me become a better writer and reader, and I’m excited to keep improving my skills in the future.

In Year 8, my attendance has been good so far with 86.7%, and I’m proud of that. For my ATL , I mostly receive 1s and 2s, but I’m working hard to improve. I’m focusing on staying more organized and actively participating in class to achieve more 1s. I know that with consistent effort, I can continue to improve and reach my goals.

Computer science

In Year 8, I learned a lot in Computer Science, and I’ve gained a better understanding of how technology works. At first, I found coding and programming a little tricky, but as we worked through different projects, I started to get the hang of it. I enjoyed learning how to create simple programs and understanding how computers process information. The lessons also helped me think logically and break problems down into smaller parts, which made tasks feel more manageable. I now feel more confident using different software and writing basic code.

In Year 8, learning about the Mughal Empire and the British taking over India in 1858 helped me understand an important part of history. I was surprised to learn how the Mughal Empire ruled over India for many years, and how it eventually fell. It was interesting to see how the British East India Company slowly took control, and then in 1858, the British government took over India completely. I learned about how British rule changed India in many ways, including its culture, economy, and society. I also found the Indian Rebellion of 1857 interesting, as it marked the end of Mughal power. This topic helped me understand more about colonialism and its lasting effects on India.

Learning German in Year 8 has been both exciting and challenging for me. The grammar, with its cases, genders, and complex sentence structures, can be difficult to grasp at times. I often find it tricky to remember which articles go with which nouns and how verbs change depending on the subject. Pronunciation can also be a challenge, especially with certain sounds that aren't in English language. However, I've been trying to improve by practicing more in class, doing extra exercises at home, and using apps to help reinforce what I’ve learned. Despite the struggles, I feel proud of the progress I've made and am motivated to keep improving.

In Year 8, learning about respiration and current in science has been really interesting. I’ve learned that aerobic respiration happens with oxygen and produces a lot of energy, while anaerobic respiration doesn’t need oxygen but produces less energy and can create lactic acid. Fermentation, a type of anaerobic respiration, is used in making bread and alcohol. We also studied electricity, and I now understand how current flows through circuits and how different components affect it. Overall, these topics have helped me see how energy and electricity are important in both living things and everyday technology.
