My new friend from Belgium is Hanne Hufkens. She’s 14 years old and her birthday is on 17 of March. She considers herself a strong and sweet person. Concerning her family, she is the little sister. She lives with her mum, Nicole, her dad, Kris and her old sister, Merel. Her big dream is to have a good job and a beautiful family.

Hanne is from Belgium. Geographically, Belgium is divided into 3 provinces: Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. Hanne lives in one of that, Flandes, specifically in a town that is called Laakdal. Laakdal is a town with 15.000 people more a less and is distributed in 6 regions.

As for her hobbies, Hanne likes chiro. She is crazy about volleyball too. As music, she likes a lot of different music styles, like: electric, pop… As cinema she likes horror movies and as food she likes pizza and pasta. Concerning traditions, she likes a lot Christmas because of the presents.

Hanne goes to Sint-Maria school. It is a publicschool situated in Geel. Her school has about 350-400 students and 50 teachers. So it is as big as my school. She studies 13 subjects, and her favourite one is physical education. She starts school at 8:25 and finishes at 15:25 on Monday and Tuesday but, she starts at 8:25 and finishes at 14:35 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

On 31th October, Catalans celebrate “la castanyada” but my friend from Belgium doesn’t it. She celebrates a kind of Halloween, they eat pumpkin soap and they see terror movies.

My new friend of Belgium is Merel. She’s a beautiful girl that has blond hair and blue eyes. As soon as I know her, I consider her a very good person. She explained to me that she has an older brother called Jack, a lot of uncles and aunties, many cousins...definitely a very big family.  She told me a lot of things that she likes, but among all these, which she most emphasizes is dancing, so she love dancing, and its dream is dancing in a World Champions Dancing. However, she hates art because she thinks that she is not confident about her drawing and painting skills. In the future she would like to be a very good dancer, if it’s possible, the best of the world. 

 

As I said, Merel, my new friend, is from Belgium. Geographically, is a country in Western Europe bordered by the Netherlands to the north Luxembourg to the southeast, France to the southeast, and Germany to the east. Specifically,Merel lives in Meerhout, in the region of Flandes.

 

As for her hobbies Merel loves dancing and as long as she can, spends the day dancing. Also, she is keen on singing. Concerning music, her favorite singer is Ed Sheeran and she explained to me that she would love to go to one of his music concerts. About food, she likes so much pizza, and every Friday it's a tradition to eat pizza with her family.

 

Merel goes to Basisschool De Duizendpoot school. It’s a public school situated in her town, and has 350 students more or less. So it is as big as my school. Her favorite subject is PE, because she likes moving all day. She starts school at 8:25 a.m. and finishes at 16:15 p.m.

 

Finally, I would like to explain a tradition called Halloween. On 31st October, Catalans celebrate “La Castanyada” but my friend Merel celebrates Halloween, so let’s now talk about this tradition. Halloween is a celebration observed in several countries on 31st  October, the eve of the Westrn Christian feast of Day. Children go out to the street to ask for candy. Merel celebrates this traditional event because its typical in her family. Also, she likes spend time with their friends.

 

 

My new friend 

My new friend from Belgium, Bo, has fourteen years old. She speaks Dutch, at home and in the school, English and French. She doesn’t have a boyfriend but she has a lot of friends. She considers herself a happy, friendly and fun person. She has a sister and a brother, and she has a lot of pets: a cat, a dog, a duck, two guinea pigs two horses, two goats and a chicken. What she likes the most is meeting with her friends. What she hates the most is the fake people. In the future, she would like to be professional dancer. 

Geographically, Belgium is divided into regions. She lives in Geel, in the region of Flandes. 

As for her hobbies she likes riding a horse and dancing. Her favorite food is pizza. Her typical traditions are like those of American: Christmas, Halloween and Easter. Bo’s favorite film is Twilight and her favorite singer is Shawn Mendes. 

Bo goes to Sint Maria Geel school. It is a public school situated in Geel. She doesn’t know how many students there are in the school. So, I don’t know if her school is bigger or smaller than my school. Her favorite subject is Gym. As for the breaks, she goes with her friends: Lore, Ashley, Zoë… 

On 31 October, Catalans celebrate « La Castanyada » but my friend from Belgium celebrates Halloween.  My friend celebrates Halloween although it is an American tradition.  When she was younger, she dressed as scary characters and did “Trick or Treat” but this year she meet with her friends and saw scary movies. 

My new friend from Belgium is Lunia Sleeckx. She is 14 years old and her birthday is in July. She considers herself a kind person. As for her family, she lives with her father. She is only child. In the future, she wants to be a child nurse because she loves babies. Her biggest dream is lives in Spain, one reason that she wants to live in Spain is because she likes his culture and his food. What she likes the most is hang out with her friends and her family and what she hates the most is talking with audiences.

As I said before, my new friend is from Belgium. Geographically, the country of Belgium is divided into three regions. Two of these regions, the Flemish Region or Flanders, and Walloon Region, or Wallonia, are each subdivided into five provinces. The third region, the Brussels-Capital Region, is not divided into provinces, as it was originally, only a small part of a province itself.

Lunia lives in the center of the village, in the region of Antwerp. The village where she lives, is called Meerhout. The village is small and there are not many shops.

As for her hobbies, she likes to go shopping and meet with her friends. Also, in her free time, she plays tennis and  play twirling. As for food, her favourite food is meat balls in tomato sauce with puree and the dish she hates is beetroot. As for the cinema, her favourite film is “We need to walk”, a drama film. Concerning music, her favourite singer is Sebastian Yatra,  from Spain.

Lunia goes to Sint-Maria school. It is a public school situated in the center in Geel, next to the swimming pool. She goes to school in the neighbor town, because there isn’t a high school in her town. In their school, there are students from 3rd to 6th. Her school has some 300-400 students and about 50 teachers. So it is as big as my school. She studies 12 subjects, and her favourite one is P.E. She starts school at 8.25 and finishes at 15.25 on Mondays and Thursdays at 16.15. As for the breaks, she have breakfast and talks with her friends. 

On 31st October, Catalans celebrate “La Castanyada” but my friend from Belgium celebrates another party that is called Halloween. Let’s now talk about the night of Halloween. This tradition consist in horror walks, and they go home by home asking for candies. For that reason, you must go dressed up. For dinner, they eat pumpkin soup, but in Spain, we eat chestnuts. It’s been a tradition for years now.

My new friend from Belgium is Emma Mertens. Her birthday is on 28th October and she was born in Belgium. She considers herself an ambitious and kind person. As for her family, she lives with her parents and her sister, Lena. She hasn’t got any pets, but she would like to have a dog. Concerning her interests, she likes the orange colour, chocolate and she also likes to play Fornite, but what she is particularly fond of is volleyball, she is crazy about it! What she can’t stand are dishonest people because she hates lies. Her biggest dream is acting in a film, however, she knows that’s almost impossible. If she can’t be an actress, she wants to be a teacher.

Emma is from Belgium. Geographically, Belgium is situated in Western Europe, bordered by the Netherlands on the north, Germany on the east, Luxembourg on the southeast, France on the southwest, and the North Sea on the northwest. The capital and largest city is Brussels. Belgium is divided into three different regions: Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. Emma lives in Geel, in the region of Flanders.

As for her hobbies, she is keen on listening to pop music and her favourite film is Titanic.  Emma loves meeting her friends: Lunia, Stijin, Honne and Amelia. Regarding food, she told me that she is crazy about chocolate, especially milk chocolate. Furthermore, a very traditional food as boulet à la liégeoise. The Boulet à la liégeoise is a Belgian traditional speciality which comes from the city of Liège. As with most regional recipes, there are as many recipes as there are people making them, everyone adding their own personal touch.

Emma goes to Sint Maria Geel school. It is a private school located in Geel. She studies lots of subjects, her favourite one is PE and what she likes the least is chemistry. She starts school at 8am and finishes at 2:30pm. As for the breaks, they have one at 10am and the other at 12:30pm. In Sint Maria Geel she met her friends, that we have already mentioned. 

On 31st October, Catalans celebrate “La Castanyada” but my friend from Belgium celebrates Halloween even though she doesn’t like it.
