We talked today about our Term 1 challenges of the CLORE Awards. Our theme this term is 'myself' and following our festivals, we have had a real focus on who we are and what we might want to improve or change. Choosing the right challenge will help us reach our goals.

We had a visit from Lynelle Howson from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission who talked about her work preserving the memory of the many people who have died abroad during wars. She showed us how families remember fallen soldiers and why it is important for us to remember how they fought to make our world a safer and more peaceful place for us today.

We had a visit from Hatzolah today to tell us about the work they do to keep the local community safe. They told us about what to do if there is a medical emergency and how they can help.

We prepared for our First Aid workshops today by talking about what we would do in an emergency situation: how to prioritise safety, how to keep calm, how to talk to the casualty and how to call for help.

We talked today about a famous figure who showed amazing resilience. Jamie was a news reporter who wanted to create a make up range for people with skin conditions. She started from nothing, heard 'no' over 1000 times, and went on to become a make up billionaire!

We rounded off our STEM activities by hearing about the ground breaking work of Dr Hayat Sindi in bringing medical care to all communities regardless of cost. We learnt that Dr Sindi also overcame many barriers to become the scientist that she is today.

We gave out the awards today for the Respect champions in every class and also the children who had received the most dojos in each class this year. Congratulations to the whole school for working so hard.
