Step 1: Using this preceding work as a basis, create design outcomes that function to educate, inform, persuade, challenge traditional perceptions, and generally shine the light on the issue.

Step 2: Keeping the same idea or concept, create experimental visuals that translate these same ideas using techniques and media that are illustrative, photographic and graphic design.

 

You are to create six final refined artworks for submission that might be considered environmental design (billboards, murals, posters, urban provocations, etc.)

Through the use of design principles/elements, visual codes, techniques, materials and media, create 6 final artworks that communicate intellectually (brain) and emotionally (feelings) in both synchronistic and asynchronistic ways. You are encouraged to mix digital and non-digital methods and may incorporate typography.

 

- Synergistic: 3 outcomes in 3 different mediums (Illustrative, Photographic, & Graphic Design) to be communicating in synchronistic ways. Find ways to marry the intellectual (brain) part of the work with the emotional (heart) part of the work so they are both supporting each other and heading in the same direction. For example, the materials and techniques used should be communicating the same message as the idea.

 

- Assynergistic: 3 outcomes (Illustrative, Photographic, & Graphic Design) simultaneously communicating opposing or differing intellectual/emotional messages (e.g. happy/sadness, peaceful violence). For example, the materials and techniques used should be communicating a very different message as the idea. In setting up opposing thinking with feelings, these designs should aim to provoke some confusion in the viewer, to unsettle, to make the viewer question the status quo.
