Good morning to the respected chair person, mentors,presenters and viewers.First I would like to thank my mentors for evolving me as a researcher from being a teacher .After 28 years of my teacher position I've stepped out as a researcher .I'm Mrs.Shakila banu Graduate teacher in English from panchayat union middle school ,A.Ammapalayam,Pappireddipatti block ,Dharmapuri district.

My research topic is " Exploring the relationship between bilingual resources and student understanding ".

1.How do I perceive the effectiveness of bilingual materials in improving my students understanding of lesson context ?

2.How do bilingual materials influence students understanding and understanding and comprehension of lesson content?

3.what are my colleagues 's perceptions of how bilingual materials impacting my students comprehension and learning outcomes ?

1. I' ve noticed that some of my students struggle to understand lessons when taught only in English.

I believe using bilingual materials can help bridge this gap by connecting what they already know in their native language with new concepts

2. Many students feel shy or hesitant to participate in class because they are unsure about their English skills .

3.I'm interested in how using both Tamil and English in lessons can help students learning and remember new words ,improving their overall language abilities.

1.My School,located in the resources limited Dharmapuri district.

2.Students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

3.Students are motivated to learn ,some face challenges in reading .

4.As the parents are illiterate,they are unable to support their children in studies.

I collected the data from students ,peer teachers and parents through various methods like

1. Focused group interview with students .

2.Diary writing for 8 days .

3. Pre test 1 before introducing bilingual materials .

4. Post test 2 test to check students comprehension of bilingual materials .

5.Peer group observation -4 teachers.

6. Speaking over phone with parents about suggestions on their children's intreset using bilingual.

Bilingual materials motivated students "Today ,before I entered the class my children were all ready for the class. They were reading the next section(3).

Bilingual materials were helpful in explaining the grammatical task." They wrote their own sentences using the simple present tense ".

• Tamil words used in the materials have to be reconsidered.

" They were not able to understand Tamil words such as நெறிவளங்கள், கிளிப் விளிம்புகள். Here I used pictures to explain them.

2. Are you interested in reading English books?

3. What makes you feel difficult in understanding?

4. Do you need Tamil translation while I teach?

5. Do you want me to translate the whole content in Tamil?

• Pre- test:

  ▪︎ One boy answered all the questions correctly .

  ▪︎Two students couldn't answer.

  Post - test :1

  ▪︎ Two students answered all the question correctly.

  Post - test :2

•Bilingual material help the learners to be motivated towards the content.

•They help in teaching grammar compared to monolingual material.

• Peer observation has strong recommendation for bilingual material for better content learning from 6th standard

•Majority of the observers agree on using mother tongue in classroom for better learning and comprehension on specific instances

•Peer observers believed that grammar and content selector were designed effectively

• Findings of the study clearly highlights their gradual improvement in students content learning when we use bilingual material ( from pre test and Post test results )
