- Livor mortis begins: the discoloration of the skin due to the pooling of blood in the dependent parts of the body following death. The blood pools because the heart can no longer circulate the blood.
- A process called autolysis starts i.e. carbon dioxide in the body causes an acidic environment, causing cell membranes to rupture, releasing enzymes that breaks down tissues. Blisters may occur on the surface of the skin.
- Bacteria in digestive tract begin to digest the intestines

-  Body rupture and smell attracts egg-laying flies, mostly blowflies (insect activities)
