We explored Dihua Street afterward, and everyone loved the unique Opium Tapioca Dessert. The vibrant atmosphere and historic charm of Dadaocheng deeply impressed the exchange students. I endorsed the cultural visit here because it showcases authentic Taiwanese heritage perfectly. Me and my team members enjoyed exploring the historic street the most due to its combination of traditional food, charming architecture, and lively atmosphere, providing a wonderful way to introduce our exchange students to Taiwanese culture.

The warm soy milk and crispy 燒餅油條 gave everyone a taste of traditional Taiwanese flavors. The library is spacious and full of academic resources, making it a perfect place to read, study, or simply enjoy the quiet. I was especially touched by the sense of history and knowledge that fills the space. It reminded me how valuable learning is.

For lunch, we took our group to try Lan's Gua Bao—it was everyone's first time seeing and eating gua bao, and they all loved it! 🐷 We even recommended they add cilantro, which some were unsure about at first, but ended up liking it. We also shared some Four Herb Soup (四神湯) with them—super local!

Then came dinner—we went to a famous chicken broth ramen shop near campus. Every student said it was amazing! 🍜 We had such a big group that we nearly filled the whole restaurant. It got pretty loud in there, but the owner was super friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated.

All in all, it was a full and fun day—lots of food, laughter, and great memories!

Then we visited the Miniatures Museum, which everyone found super cute and detailed. At night, we explored a night market and tried stinky tofu, sweet potato balls, taro balls, three-flavor thick soup (with shrimp, squid, and fried fish), and salty chicken. To end the day, we taught them how to play mahjong—and they absolutely loved it the most!

This was our first time trying music therapy techniques designed to support cancer patients. Using rhythm and sound, we explored how music can bring relaxation, reduce stress, and improve emotional well-being. It was not only educational but also a truly fun and refreshing experience. Everyone was engaged, smiling, and curious to learn more. We’re excited to apply these skills to help our patients heal not just physically, but emotionally too. 💛

Today we visited the 5CV1 ward, and I found it to be a very special experience. It’s rare to have the chance to see so many monitors surrounding the beds in a ward. What impressed me the most was the ECMO machine. It seemed quite complex to set up, and there are so many things to pay attention to. If the wrong switch is turned on or off, it could lead to the patient’s immediate death.

Today, our group learned about Taiwan’s hospital discharge planning team. I initially imagined it would involve nearly a hundred people, but surprisingly, the entire team consists of only six nurses! During my previous internship in the rehabilitation department, I often saw senior nurses coordinating discharge procedures, contacting family members, and confirming post-discharge plans. So, it was truly valuable to gain a deeper understanding of what this team does.

Long-term care has become increasingly important in recent years, especially for stroke patients who face mobility challenges and other difficulties that complicate their discharge. These teams play a crucial role in helping plan for life after hospitalization, aiming to reduce readmission rates and prevent unnecessarily long hospital stays. They work in collaboration with social workers, doctors, physical therapists, and other professionals to create a comprehensive post-discharge plan, making the transition from hospital to home or community much smoother.

After visiting the Medical Library, we returned to the Nursing Building to discuss what we saw at NTU Hospital in the morning. Our idea was that each department is like a puzzle piece of the hospital. We noticed things like the breast milk bank, the nurse-to-patient ratio system, the differences between case managers and the Telehealth Center, and the “Four Spiritual Messages” emphasized in palliative care: saying thanks, sorry, love, and goodbye. I found all of this really inspiring and interesting—it helped us see the hospital from different perspectives. One thing I feel was a bit of a pity is that we didn’t clearly explain the overall concept in our presentation. If I could add something, I’d say we wanted to show how the hospital is made up of many different but essential parts.

This morning, we visited the NTU Children’s Hospital, and I thought it was a truly wonderful experience. The decorations and interior design were super cute and full of childlike elements, clearly designed to make children feel safe and happy. Compared to the main hospital or the NTU Cancer Center, the atmosphere here felt more relaxed and comfortable.

My favorite part was definitely the playroom. The space was cozy and filled with adorable toys. I even saw some children playing happily there, which was really heartwarming. This visit gave me a deeper appreciation for how pediatric healthcare environments can be both healing and welcoming.

Today my teammates and I went to hematology ward in children hospital, it was interesting learning those things and we saw the Dr. Red Nose, that was totally a whole new thing to me, because after graduating from the university, I’ve never been to pediatric department after then, so this time I knew why pediatric specialist always talking about Dr. Red Nose, because they brought spite and energy to the ward and let the little patient feel better though they are having terrible time during treatment, but they still have their right to be happy.😃

My team visited today the wound care & ostomy team. I have dealt with ostomies as well as wound care during my trainee periods so it was nice to find out many similarities. After lunch four of us headed for the orthopedics ward to learn of their daily duties. There was some impressive details for example the screen at nursing station where you could check the bed chart with responsible nurses and many more details. We had a lively discussion with the head nurse and her colleague about the differencies between our countries' routines and processes.
