My favorite book from when I was a child is called "The Mystery of Chimney Rock". It was Book #5 in a series of books called Choose Your Own Adventure. These books were unique in that they were told from the "2nd Person" Point of view. YOU were the main character of the story. Based on choices you make throughout the book, you may end up in one of 30+ different endings. I liked "Chimney Rock so much because it involved a mysterious house at the end of your street that was believed to be haunted. I guess I really liked scary stories when I was younger.

Anyone that has read this story understands why this is such a classic. I still remember my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Nelson, reading this to our class when I was just 8 years old. I remember the class laughing, worrying, crying, and so much more as Mrs. Nelson read through all of the wonderful pages. I have since read this book cover to cover at least 10 more times. I learned a plethora of emotions from this book as it is a wonderful roller coaster ride through anger, hope, wonder, joy, sadness, and much more. I grew up loving adventure, my grandpa, and dogs. This book couldn't have been a better choice for me to treasure forever!

The Hunger Games was one of my all time favorite books and, still is today. The Hunger Games setting takes time into the future and, is about North America. In this book you will find that there are 12 official districts in the country called Panem. Beyond the barriers of the districts are the wilds. The Wilds are dangerous and, are not to be ventured in. With all that, Panem's government is strict and, allows no entry into the wilds. There is also one more stretch, every year there have an annual game that puts 24 kids into a arena to fight to the death while this is all being televised by the government. Then there is Katniss, a 16 year old girl who volunteers for her sister to go into the Hunger Games. Katniss defies all throughout the book with her ability of using her bow. The Hunger Games definitely is the best book ever in my opinion and, I hope you consider reading this amazing book.

The series features two sets of fraternal twins. Nan and Bert are 12 and Freddie and Flossie are 6 years old. In every book, there was some great mystery the siblings solved. Of course, it ended like all fairy tales with a 'happily ever after', but I loved the way the princesses slipped away and danced with abandon while they were under an enchantment. I do have to say that this assignment was a very difficult one. I narrowed my choices to Grimm, the 'Little House' books and just about every Nancy Drew book that I could get my hands on, but in the end, The Twelve Princesses won out because of the number of times I read and reread it. I really just started reading more in the last year. This book was such a great historical read about the first attempt to get to the North Pole. I found it hard to believe that people in the late 1800's actually thought that there was a warm body of water there once you broke through the ice. The expedition lasted almost 2 years and the things they had to do and endure were incredible. If it were not for George Washington De Long written accounts and a couple survivors (oops.....spoiler alert!), we would have never known the story. Amazing read.

I really don't remember what grade I was in when I read this book, but do remember having to make a project out of it. I remember using a small shoe box and designing it to look like the box car that these 4 orphans found in the woods to live in. They didn't want to be separated from each other, so they lived in the boxcar together and had to survive relying on each other. This was the first book in the series with many more adventures to follow. I guess that it is one of my favorites because of the memories I have about reading it, connecting to the story, and wanting to make sure these 4 children did make it on their own. I remember getting this book from a Scholastic book order and enjoying it immensely. Encyclopedia Brown and his friend/bodyguard Sally act a bit like Sherlock Holmes and Watson, although Sally is more of an equal than a sidekick. They solve crimes and mysteries by carefully watching for details.

In the book there is a lot of big words and is great for younger kids to try and find a new vocabulary. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read.

I can remember being excited as Black Beauty experienced the good times, then near tears as he struggles through the bad. It's a touching tale that made me think about how animals are treated.

I read this book when I was a kid and I read it with my class every year! It is funny tale about a boy who thinks he is going to "camp". Really he is forced to dig holes all day in the hot sun. Mr. Sir makes you laugh the entire time with his silly behavior!

Class - No secret I grew up reading Spider-Man comics, but this was the first one I ever owned myself (before that I just read them off of the spinner rack). I remember reading this issue. And then re-reading it at least 10 more times over the weekend. It featured a huge Spider-Man Vs. Dr. Octopus battle. I actually still own this issue... along with 1000s more Spider-Man books.
