Who is he? 

We didn't know. So his first exercise was to research who he was, no guidelines, no boundaries, we had to find out who he is. So we did.

This taught us the first lesson of networking to all artists who are looking to stand out, research your potential clients. The reason is, you need to know their values which reflects how they want to be represented in their content. Therefore, your pitch can be tailored to their brand.

He highlighted how this particular approach has reflected in his career, as it is one of the reasons for his position in vividia and his opportunities with Burberry. 

However, research doesn't only mean factual research from the internet, it also comes from the act of networking. How so? Asking the right questions.

His experience as a wedding photographer prior to his current role indicated that his approach was always significant in the quality of his work. 

He would ask for his clients' story, looking for specific themes he could express in his photographer and showing it through composition, lighting and framing to represent the conflicts of the clients. To connect with them emotionally. This resulted in his success. 

This clarified to me one important ideology, the significance of storytelling, no matter who your client is. As artists we have the ability to tell stories even with simplicity. The majority of wedding photographers wouldn't do this, it requires a lot of effort. Simeon knew this, and he put in the effort to research and understand the story of his clients.
