Seesaw has been frustrating in the lower grades for the start of the year, but also very rewarding.
The frustrating part is the amount of time that it is taking to take a single picture and tell a story. This can take upwards of 15-20 minutes.
It is also frustrating based on the amount of 1-on-1 help that is needed.
One last reason it is frustrating is the noise from one little movement of the iPad.

It is rewarding because it has been a great way to hear students tell their stories and to compare their writing to their oral language. It is especially helpful with decoding some of those not so easy to read words at the lower level!
This has especially been beneficial with ELL students. Students can tell their story in Spanish and we can have it translated at a later time.
It has also been helpful to store all of their work in one place and to look back on it.
I have not utilized it as a parent, but that would also be a benefit I think.
Lastly, it has been fun to use some of the activities that the activities library has. Today the students used it to work on adding details in a sentence. They had so much fun, learned, and grew while focusing on our objective.

I am using SeeSaw to have the students publish their writing. They take a picture of their drawing and record their story. They circle as they dictate their story to show what happened first, next, and last. It's been great for assessments to easily track where the kiddos are at all in one place rather than finding time to sit down individually with each kid. One downside is that it takes a lot of time for the students to get used to using the app and how to navigate it

I have really enjoyed using Seesaw, and have gotten a lot of great feedback from parents at conference time. They have enjoyed seeing their students' work, and being able to comment on them. It's also been VERY helpful at IEP meetings to be able to print off their PDF of all their work, along with a peer's work quickly. It's all on the same topic, and it's easy to help compare their writing. Downfall- in the lower grades I feel like it's harder to have them be independent. They still need a bit of guidance, but I hope the more that we use it the more they will be fluent and hopefully do it independently. They have LOVED doing the activities on there.

I don't use SeeSaw in Title I, but am seeing that it is useful for students in the classroom setting. For the lower elementary, it seems it takes awhile to get the youngest students on it without a lot of teacher time getting started.
