The Beginning of the Adventure

Wesley follows the boat with Vizzini, Inigo, and Fezzik, after they kidnap buttercup. He slowly gains on them even through the shrieking eel infested waters and the cliffs of insanity, all to save Buttercup.

The First Trial

When Wesley reaches the top of the Cliffs of Insanity, he meets Inigo at the top waiting to kill him. Although they both have an intent of death, they share a friendly conversation before their epic battle. The two sword fight and Wesley is nearly injured but ultimately wins, leaving Inigo passed out rather than dead.

The Second Trial

After defeating Indigo, Wesley meets Fezzik waiting to kill him by bashing his head with a large boulder. Although Vizzini instructs Fezzik to kill Wesley this way, Fezzik decides to take a more " sports man like" approach. The two begin hand to hand fighting, and Wesley ultimately wins when he chokes Fezzik to a point of yet again not death but unconsciousness.

The Third trial

Waiting for Wesley after his second trial is Vizzini, with a challenge of " a Battle to the Wits." In this challenge They play to the death after Wesley puts Iocane powder, one of the deadliest poisons known to man, in one of the goblets. When Vizzini finally decides to drink from a cup he dies soon after. Buttercup askes which had the poison and Wesley reveals both did, and he had spent the last few years building up an immunity to Iocane powder.

Refusal to the Call

After rescuing Buttercup, Wesley is hesitant to tell her it's him, and after she asks who he is he replies, " someone not to be trifled with." This could be seen as the refusal to the call because Wesley refuses to reveal his identity to butter cup and leap back into their relationship, and instead waits until he can fully trust her again. He ends up revealing his identity when he rolls down the hill saying," As you Wish." which to buttercup is him telling her it's Wesley.

Experience with unconditional love

After Wesley reveals himself to Buttercup, they reunite. The moment is so loving because Buttercup believed Wesley had been dead all these years, but now the lovers are reunited.

The Ultimate Boon

After facing the fire swamp Wesley and Buttercup are met by Prince Humperdinck, and his huntsman. Buttercup notices these men, she turns herself over in return for Wesley's safety. Knowing buttercup was safe and that was his ultimate goal, Wesley watches buttercup disappear with the prince, unknowing he was to be taken to the pit of despair.

The Magic Flight

In The Pit of Despair, Wesley faces "the machine" which is a torture device used to suck the life out of its victims. But as he watches Wesley face the machine, The six fingered man, count Rugen, realized Wesley was stronger than anticipated so he turns it up to 10, which ultimately kills Wesley.

After Prince Humperdinck has the Thieves' Forest emptied, indigo and Fezzik reunite. When Indigo learns of Rugen, his father's killer, he seeks "the man in black" to help him on his mission of revenge. They find Wesley dead in the pit of despair and take him to Miricle Max who brings him back to life with the power of love. Still not fully alive Wesley is week when trying to save butter cup only minutes before she's wed to Humperdinck. They make it in with deception Indigo avenges his father while Wesley finds buttercup. He then finds Buttercup in the bedroom.

The Crossing or Return Threshold

In the bedroom Buttercup admits to being married and Wesley brings to her realization that she didn't say "I do" so she is not married. Prince Humperdinck then interrupts them and Wesley challenges him "to the pain" After a monologue of how gruesome "to the pain" is prince Humperdinck surrenders and Wesley and buttercup, along with victorious Inigo, escape out the window. They then meet Fezzik with four white horses. The four ride to freedom and live happily ever after.
