Rice is commonly served with meat and vegetables, even though the meat eaten changes with each persons beliefs. We also common eat potatoes and noodles. We LOVE our spices as Singaporeans so we commonly use garlic and ginger. Many places serve Western-style food including sandwiches, coffee and pasta. Our youth tend to enjoy the Western-style food more along with Taiwanese bubble tea. We also enjoy traditional desserts such as mooncakes and rice dumplings for the holidays.

Family is a big part of our culture. Mainly our families are small with one or two children and because of this, our government would offer financial incentives if you had more children but our country had one of the lowest growth rates anyway. We learn to respect elderly from young ages and normally elderly live with their children. Many children get a job immediately after college to give money for their parents monthly as an allowance of sorts. It is common for children to stay with their parents until they get married. More women are getting higher education and/or jobs and are marrying later in life. Women and men are given equal opportunities. Women are given maternity leave before and after child birth and can get days off for childcare. The same happens for men though the time is normally shorter.

Most of the food in Hong Kong is imported. Hong Kongers, similar to us, commonly eat rice and noodles. Hong Kongers try to eat balanced meals which normally consist of meat, fish and vegetables. The people of Hong Kong enjoy going out to hot-pot restaurants and they enjoy "yuan-yang" which is coffee with milk tea. Packaged foods, mainly snacks, are also becoming increasingly popular in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong was previously a British colony but is now its own country. The area of Hong Kong is mainly mountainous but contains lowlands and a large natural harbor called Victoria Harbor as well. Hong Kong is somewhat tropical and has seasonal monsoons. The months of November to February are normally dry and cool with temperatures ranging from 10–18°C and the months of July to October as the monsoon season with temperatures ranging from 26–34°C.

Families have a strong sense of loyalty and respect similarly to us. Most families are also small with one or two children. While people do try to remain close to their more elderly family, they don't tend to live together. Children tend to live with their family until they're married, similar to us, but they tend to hire maids to clean their homes instead of asking their children to clean up. More women are receiving higher education and getting jobs but there is still lots of discrimination involved. Women are still thought of responsible for the home and children despite if they're working.
