It is also for a preventable reason, considering that he could just not drink in the first place at the party/not have gone to that party or he could ask a trusted adult to drive him home even with the consequences. The consequences that would have occurred with telling a trusted adult wouldn't even compare to the guilt that he faces every day now in jail. However, I personally do not think that he should receive the death penalty, because a lot of people make that mistake, and as big as it is, I don't think the punishment should be that severe.
