Öğrencilerin tarihsel analiz ve eleştirel düşünme becerilerini güçlendirmek. İşbirlikçi multimedya içeriği oluşturarak medya ve dijital okuryazarlığı geliştirmek. Sınırlar ötesi iş birliği içi öğrenme ve ekip çalışmasını teşvik etmek. İngilizce ile hem sözlü hem yazılı bir yabancı dil olarak iletişimi geliştirmek. Farklı Avrupa ülkelerinde tarihsel süreklilikler ve zıtlıklar konusunda farkındalığı artırmak. Tartışmalı veya travmatik tarihi olayları birden fazla bakış açısından tartışarak empatiyi, düşünceyi ve sorumlu vatandaşlığı teşvik etmek.

Öğrencilerin çalışmalarını toplayan dijital bir dergi ("United by History Webzine"). Avrupa hafıza mekanlarının etkileşimli bir haritası. Paylaşılan ve farklı tarihlerin sanal bir sergisi veya zaman çizelgesi. Tarihsel düşünce, dil becerileri, dijital yeterlilik ve kültürlerarası farkındalık güçlendirildi. Gelecekteki okul projelerinde tekrarlanabilecek müfredatlar çaprazı, proje tabanlı öğrenmede en iyi uygulamaların geliştirilmesi.

The “United by History” project is integrated into the History curriculum as a cross-curricular and interdisciplinary learning experience that aligns with key educational competencies promoted by the European and national frameworks. The project supports the development of historical thinking, critical analysis, communication in foreign languages, digital literacy, and civic and intercultural competencies.

Through this project, students engage in collaborative, inquiry-based learning that connects historical knowledge with 21st-century skills, fostering a deeper understanding of Europe’s shared past and its relevance to contemporary identities.

Curricular Alignment

The project contributes directly to the achievement of the following general and specific competencies:

Historical competence: analysing causes and consequences of historical events, recognizing continuity and change, and comparing multiple perspectives on the same events.

Civic competence: promoting tolerance, empathy, and democratic values through dialogue about controversial or traumatic historical topics.

Digital competence: using online collaborative tools (TwinSpace, Padlet, Canva, Genially, Google Workspace) to create multimedia products and manage shared projects.

Communication competence: improving English language skills through authentic interaction with peers from other European countries, fostering clarity, coherence, and cultural sensitivity.

Social and intercultural competence: developing teamwork, cross-cultural understanding, and awareness of European identity.

Integration within Subjects

While History is the main disciplinary anchor, the project draws connections with

Geography (mapping historical places and borders);

Civic Education (discussion of shared European values, human rights, and democratic participation);

ICT (digital tools for research and presentation);

English as a Foreign Language (communication, collaborative writing, and presentations).

Learning Approach

The project follows a project-based and inquiry-driven methodology where students work collaboratively to:

Investigate shared European historical milestones;

Compare national narratives and collective memories;

Create digital outputs (timelines, interviews, webzines, virtual maps);

Engage in debates and reflective activities on how the past influences the present.

The integration of this project within the History curriculum encourages students to connect factual learning with interpretation, empathy, and civic reflection. Activities such as timeline construction, oral history interviews, virtual exhibitions, and online debates promote active learning and strengthen both cognitive and socio-emotional skills.

Assessment and Evaluation

Evaluation will be continuous and formative, focusing on:

Active participation in international teamwork;

Research and analytical skills in historical tasks;

Quality and creativity of digital outputs;

Communication and collaboration in English;

Reflective and critical contributions to discussions and debates.

Final evaluation will also include peer assessment and self-reflection, as well as recognition through participation certificates and public dissemination of results on the school website and TwinSpace.

Expected Educational Impact

The integration of “United by History” enhances the curriculum by:

Deepening understanding of European heritage and historical diversity;

Encouraging empathy and responsible citizenship;

Strengthening interdisciplinary connections;

Promoting innovative and inclusive pedagogical practices that prepare students for lifelong learning in a global context.

Collaborative Virtual Map of Historical Monuments and Sites Across Europe

Students will collaboratively create a virtual map showcasing historical monuments and places of memory from different European countries. Each location will represent a shared or national past, reflecting key historical events, collective memories, and cultural identities.

For every selected site, students will:

• Identify its historical significance

• Explain the events and memories associated with the place

• Highlight its role in shaping European history and values

• Add short texts, images, videos, or AI-generated content

This activity promotes:

• Historical awareness and critical thinking

• Respect for cultural diversity and shared European heritage

• Digital literacy and collaborative work

• Reflection on memory, identity, and the lessons of the past

By connecting places, stories, and voices, students will understand how memory helps build a more conscious, inclusive, and peaceful Europe.

As part of the activity Our Cultural Heritage, students are invited to actively participate in a photography activity that aims to value and promote our shared cultural heritage.

Each student is requested to upload one original photograph representing an element of cultural heritage by the end of January. This may include monuments, traditions, historical sites, or other cultural expressions from your local area.

During the month of February, all participating students will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite photograph by selecting the “like” option. The photograph with the highest number of likes will be selected as the winning entry.

We encourage all students to take part in this activity, share their cultural identity, and contribute to strengthening cultural awareness and cooperation within our eTwinning community.

É importante sensibilizar os jovens para a realidade Histórica e a sua importância na compreensão do presente. 

Através de imagens/ fotografias de época, pretende-se que os alunos pensem, investiguem, compreendam a História, as várias épocas e acontecimentos que marcaram a sociedade.

Desta forma, o objetivo é estimular as competências dos alunos no que concerne à análise histórica e pensamento crítico; promovendo a criatividade com recurso a imagens que evocam a memória histórica local e/ou mundial.

Consciencializar a comunidade escolar para épocas ou acontecimentos que marcaram o rumo da História.

Através da seleção de fontes iconográficas, nomeadamente fotografias relacionadas com épocas e/ou acontecimentos, abordados nos conteúdos programáticos da disciplina de História pretende-se propor aos alunos uma reflexão crítica e/ou criativa sobre as imagens e o contexto histórico onde se inserem.

Dear partners from the schools involved in the eTwinning project,

We kindly ask you to prepare a presentation focusing on our common historical roots, using as reference the periods studied by the students participating in the project: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Era, and the Contemporary Era.
Within the Contemporary Era, please place particular emphasis on the 20th century, addressing topics such as:

• the World Wars,

• totalitarian/authoritarian regimes,

• integration into Euro-Atlantic structures (the European Union and NATO).

The presentation may be created in any digital format suitable for sharing with partner schools. We ask you to include relevant historical facts, visual materials, and examples that highlight the cultural and historical connections among our countries.
