Plastic bags are everywhere. Even in places they shouldn't be. According to source #1, Americans use approximately 100 billion bags each year! The average family uses about 60 bags in just 4 trips to the grocery store! That's a lot of groceries! A paper bag or reusable bag would work just as well, if not better!

Reusable bags are better than plastic bags. Trust me on this one. Reusable bags can be used several times. A plastic bag can only be used once or twice. The plastic bag will be polluted eventually and only 3% of plastic bags are recycled. That means 3 billion out of 100 billion plastic bags are recycled each year.

The Irish put a tax on plastic bags and they received a great outcome. The outcome was a surprising 90% decline in the number of plastic bags that were found in their waste. In 2012, the tax on plastic bags led to a drop from 328 bags per each person, to 14 bags per each person. The Irish tax ban is the start to a cleaner world.
