The quake was measured a magnitude of 8.0ms on the Richter scale and a moment magnitude of 8.3mW (7.9MW, according to the US Geological Survey) and was about 11 degrees strong, according to the Earthquake Administration of the People's Republic of China. The earthquake's seismic waves have been confirmed to have encircled the earth six times. The earthquake affected more than half of China and many Asian countries and regions, as far north as Liaoning, east to Shanghai, south to Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Vietnam, west to Pakistan were felt.<br><br>Sichuan earthquake on may 12 severely damaged the area of more than 100,000 square kilometers, among which, the extremely heavy disaster areas in total 10 counties (cities), the more serious disaster areas in total 41 counties (cities), the general disaster areas in total 186 counties (cities).</div>]]></description>
