In my school we have two external companies, one for the computer lab and one for the whiteboards. They can find solutions for problems connetted with hardware, but during the everyday school life we have a webmaster and a teacher( me), both expert in ICT. We do not work with any outside partners or use outside services in setting up or managing network infrastructure. We, the teachers, do not have say in this. Most work on managing infrastructure is done by colleagues who are also teachers, and for the most part it is forced pro bono work. And the result is such. There is a great need for some kind of outside partner because our network grows larger every year and teachers are not full time network administrators. They are teachers and they should teach. Their knowledge and work in managing school network should only be as a participant in defining needs, occasional help and some simple day to day managing operation.

Local government has a contract with a service provider to support all sub-units, including our school. As our hardware is currently quite up-to-date we don't need much of a help with common everyday hardware problems. But we lack of expertise in server and firewall management so this is the part where we ask for help.

All kind of procurements and price inquiries we are doing ourselves. We write technical specs and requirements for products that we are looking for.

For me it looks like that companies are actually not very interested in providing a service. They are ready to sell and install products but they aren't really interested in longterm support.

As we are quite few people at the center, I use to manage with ICT infrastructure issues, but in case of heavy work, as updating all the computers, or in case of hardware failure we have an external company in charge of this tasks.

We work with external partners who help and support our infrastructures such as printing integral system, cameras surveillance control and maintenance of computers. A external partner helps us to prepare our computers to control and centralise users who can printing with its cards. Other partner takes care of maintenance and instalations of surveillance cameras. And finally, another partner payed by eduacational administrarion helps us to hardware and software maintenance but numerous times its response timing is too much slowly. In conclusion, these external partners are very importants to reduce the time that we dedicate to solve daily faults which we can’t repair because we don’t have time or we don’t know how.

Unfortunately, no industry partners are supporting the school in developing IT infrastructure - occasionally, there is a small donation (if we are that lucky) by means of several used PC-s (5-10) , as a write-off inventory (from the bank...or university, for example).
If something goes wrong, we call the local IT service company (bound by contract) to jump in. Our community (and industry) is too weak to follow our work and needs.

We have good internet connections in Finland. In my hometown we have an ICT-unit of 6 people. Two (2) of them are assigned to help the schools with internet connection, wifi, buying equipment and so on, and so on. My experience with external partners is negative. They ara differents privates companies looking for their own benefit and that in many cases diverges from the benefit of students and teachers. Companies like Microsoft or Aple want to keep the monopoly of the software and hardware, by forcing users to buy their products. At this moment, the Xunta de Galicia, offers the hardware of schools in Linux operating systems and most of the services (email, web pages, administrative management, etc.) are developed by the own administration.

So as far as this part is concerned, network development is left to them, as far as the school network itself is concerned, network development and network utilization is still very low. Our school uses services of CARnet institution for the help with e-tools we use in our work. 80% of the problems we have in our school network is due to the very poor and unstable connection to the Internet. And often the connection to the Internet is lost due to the glitches on the side of our ISP. Unfortunately we cannot change our ISP, because it is the only one available in our little corner of the country. So 80% of the time we contact the ISP call center and all they have to do is to reset the router on their end. But in 20% of the time we have some other problems with the network if I or my colleague don't know how to solve the problem, we call, and the school pays for the external IT expert.

Well, in all Public Educational Centers in my region you can face to, two different ways:
.- On one hand in Preschoolers and Primary Education levels there is, as I said before, a figure that it´s called ICT Coordinator.- He or she is the responsible for the maintenance of the equipment and the network; however there is another figure at the Teachers Resources Center ( CPR ) that is a computer technician who provide outsource technical help for all the centres who need it. In our area, this technician work for 23 centres.

In my school there is no IT technician.Teachers help each other

In my school we have an administrator. She does all the stuff. We also have TIC teachers so we can get help if we need it.

My school has an onsite admin team that work on the school network. Our external partner is Microsoft as the school BYOD project is run using office 365. There can be times where office is down or is updating externally. Many problems this year with the develoment of new pedagogical applications such Teams. In terms of pedagogical cooperation it has been a very hands on approach from teachers with little guidance in subject specific approaches.

Since 2 years ago, when we made a huge investment in our infrastructure we have a external partner (Vodafone) for our infrastructure

and communications. Acces point, switches, routers are their. When we have a problem I call to their technical support and gives me more time to other tasks. But to maintain our computers (100), iPads (400)or pedagogical technology its us. We must be attentive to the needs of the teachers and the projects that they want to do to because they use the technology to benefit and the students learning.

Like Hermann, we work with external partners. As IT teacher I have less time to play with network so external partners are great solution. When comes up to network problem, we call them to fix it.

I have no partners, my internet is provided by a private company, we pay monthly for the service and a technician monthly for the maintenance of the network, because all the computers of the school use wifi and network for the computers in the classrooms and of specialized services
