Camera techniques used and mis en scene The camera shot is quite wide so the audience can see the characters facial expression. The props used include jackets which the T Birds wear also the pink ladies wear jackets they have chosen to do this so the characters who wear these stand out to the audience. Other props used include motorcycles, goggles , helmet and a riders jacket. Motorcycles are used because the man in this scene rides a motor bike. They use goggles to give him the look of a rider. They also give him a black helmet so it matches the colour of his motorbike,They have chosen the colour black to show the audience he has power over his rivals. Finally they give him a riders jacket to make him look cool and give him the look of an American rider at the time. Other camera angles include high angled shot when the rider is on top of the car and his rivals are looking up at him. These kind of camera angles show that the rider has more power than his rivals.

What was I feeling when I was watching this scene? I was on the edge of my seat when I was watching this scene for the first time because a mysterious motor cycle rider came out of nowhere and nobody knows who he is and I was just thinking to myself what was going to happen next.

Why the scene is done in the dark? I think the scene is done in the dark because it creates atmosphere which fits in with what is happening which helps the audience understand what is happening.

camera techniques used and mis en scene

At the start of the scene the first couple of camera shots are mid-shots they choose to do this so the audience can see the character's whole body. Props that are used include bowling balls, costumes and bowling shoes. They choose these props so the audience can understand where the scene is based also it makes the characters look like they're from the 1960's. The sound effects also communicate to the audience because of the falling pins which makes the scene more realistic. In this film the sound effects are done well which helps the audience not notice them which helps the scene because if they were done badly the film would not have become popular.

At the start of the scene the camera angle used is point of view shot they have used this type of shot to make you think what you would do if you were in the characters position. A close up point of view camera angle is used and repeated so the audience can see the characters facial expression which helps the audience understand what the character is feeling. Another camera angle used is mid shot they used this shot so the audience can see the boxers physique.
Props include boxing gloves and boxing shorts and a backdrop which would be a boxing ring. Boxing gloves have been used to make the characters look more realistic this is same for boxing shorts. The boxing ring would help communicate to the audience where the scene is based. The lighting helps the audience feel like they're actually watching the boxing match live so it makes the scene seem more realistic. The use of make up makes the boxers look more realistic because after they have been busted open in the film it looks like they're pouring out blood.

The first shot shown is a point of view shot they have shown this type of shot to show what the opponent is going through. The second shot they have used is a close up to show what is feeling. The next shot is a close up of the audience they use this shot to tell the audience that people really care about him. They have done the camera angles in this order to tell a story and to make it look like a boxing match is actually taking place. They have used typical boxing match shots because it looks more realistic, it will keep people interested. They have used slow motion when Billy is getting beaten up to show the impact of how hard he is being hit. The impact on the audience is they feel scared for Billy. They have used all of these because being hit in the face isn't very pleasant and they wanted to get this message across in the film .
