Photo editing is just as it sounds...you are changing something about the photograph or image. People tend to do this to make the image look "better." It may also be done to fix visual errors. Terms such as "airbrushing," "Photo-shopping" or "touching up" are often used to describe the editing of photos.

*A picture says a thousand words! *

-Students can discuss what they see, what the image portrays, what perspective the photographer is trying to share with us.
-This software gives the students choice in what photos and images they are using. They have the freedom to change them however they would like. (i.e. lighting, airbrushing, sharpening, tagging, cropping, exposure etc.)
-Students also need to be thinking about how others may respond to the images they publish. It is important to keep that piece in mind in order to support your classroom community.

This helps form community in the classroom by allowing students to openly give and receive feedback on each other's work.

I think a school would benefit from purchasing this tool for students. From what I've researched, Adobe Lightroom gives the most amount of options for making changes, it isn't overly expensive, and the images turn out beautiful. It is important to keep in mind the privacy issue of having the ability to tag and search for faces...maybe that option should not be allowed within school?? If possible, settings may need to be changed to secure student privacy and information. Overall, this program receives my personal stamp of approval!
