The police uniform trumps the skin color of the police officer. Loyalty to and among the individuals wearing the uniform is more important than the values the uniform protects. Police unions are one of the most powerful organizations in America …AKA The Patrolman’s Fraternal Brotherhood Association. 

People groom themselves, their thoughts and their actions to the uniform they wear. The general public adjusts their behavior in the presence of an authority with a uniform that displays the symbols of power: e.g. the badge and the gun. 

In the past decade, big city police departments have become more like units in the U.S. military. Policemen are trained to be urban soldiers fighting a domestic war. Police officers are equipped with military surplus equipment and high powered weapons.    
 
The public’s call for help too often leads to a citizen’s death or a brutal beating carried out to protect and elevate the brand of the blue uniform. Minority parents routinely give the “speech” to their children….
